My 09 does this too, and I don't have the alarm. I really wish you could program it yourself like I could on my Grand Cherokee. I'd like to set it to open all doors the first time and only have the lights flash instead of the beeps. I don't mind the beep when locking b/c it lets me know it worked, but its annoying for unlocking.

My 09 Taco also beeps. One beep (not loud at all) when exiting locks all doors. When ulocking, one beep for drivers door and a seconf push of the fob singnals another beep (totaling two) to unlock drivers side and rear door. I like knowing my door are locked and when I forget I can just hit the fob from inside the house and listen for the beep to know I'm good.

Thanks, JMED99 for turning me onto this post. I'm glad to see others looking for the same solution. Let's keep this thing going, and maybe someone will find an answer. Maybe some Toyota tech is on here, and can shed some light.

    Again, I WANT MINE OFF!!!!

ok guys, there is a solution......in the back of the owners manual on page 493 (under customizable features) it says the buzzer can be turned off but you must go to the stealership to have them do this.

If we can find out how to do this maybe we don't have to take it to the stealership.

Maybe the 4runner owners manual will have the procedure for the 4runner and maybe it will work on our Tacos.

Disconnecting the piezo buzzer (clipping the wire) may not be the best idea. If you do that wont you also loose the panick alaerm? Or does the alarm sound come from something else?

Panic button sets off the horn, not the beeper thing.

The stealership wants $90 to do this....said it takes a long time becuase they have to reprogram the whole thing....yeah right!

Oh, ok!!! So would there be any side effects to just clipping the piezo buzzer wire???

That's probably the easy route, unless some ground wire for the keyless entry is routed through the beep thingy.

Is the buzzer used for anything else other than telling you your Taco is locked/unlocked???

I think the only other time I've heard it is when I tried to lock the doors using the keyless entry when one of the doors was open. It beeped steadily until I shut the door.

So you think we should just clip the wire? I'll try to find out where this buzzer is...

Nope, I think you should clip the wire. I'll sit back and watch to see whether your truck explodes, and if not I'll consider clipping mine.

This is one thing I find annoying as well but having to take this to the dealer to change at a cost to me, boils my blood. My last truck (05 Dakota) I could do all this myself. It was listed in the manual with easy steps to follow.

Toyota has enabled their outlets with a new income source...BOO! to Toyota on this piont. Their trucks cost more than the domestic's to begin with and they have the gall to make us pay for simple customizations already built in?

The next time I'm in to the dealer and he's got my taco hooked to their pc I'll ask them to turn off this...and I don't expect a bill or forget it!

Sorry for my rant! But I do feel better now, thx! :)
