So i recently did the Fog Light anytime mod, its been a couple of weeks now and so I'm at my friends house for a few hours now and someone comes up to me and tells me my lights are on... i walk outside and my fogs are on.... my truck is locked and i haven't touched it for a few hours.

the only thing that i can think of is temperature drop, i did the mod which moves the pin in the fuse box.

im a little freaked out how the lights got power cause it is on a switched power supply, i unlocked my truck and pushed the switch and the lights turned off, then tried turning them on again. they didn't turn on like they should..

    HELP!!! lol

Did they turn on momentarily? If so then it's a normal result of this mod. (search: there are other ways of doing it so this doesn't happen)

If they came on and stayed on, then maybe go back and retrace your wires.

If you leave the fog light switch on the "on" position. You're fog lights will turn on when your truck does its fuel system check after sitting for a few hrs.
Just depress the fog switch. to "off" when you exit your truck and you'll be fine.

A little strange that it happened once. There is a wire you can easily confuse when you do this that results in the fogs LITERALLY being on all the time where you have to turn the switch off every time you turn the truck off or they would just stay on. But since this is the first time it's happened it's obviously not that. I've had mine done for nearly 2 years and I've never noticed mine randomly coming on. Then again, I guess I wouldn't since I don't keep the switch on.

But, as the others have mentioned, apparently this is "normal" if you keep the button pressed in all the time. Just keep it off and push it when you want to use them.

The fog light anytime mod where you bend a prong of a relay and use about 6" of wire to connect to a power source under the hood can do this? I guess I will have to start turning mine off too if so.

No, this method does not have the same problems. Mines been done for several months this way with no problems, and yes I do leave my switch on sometimes with no worries.

Also if you do the version where you tie into the towing relay they wont come on, but the downside to that is that you have to turn on your parking lights to have the fogs on. It's not exactly a "anytime fog" b/c fogs won't come on without at least the parking lights but I prefer it because its fused and as soon as my lights go off the fogs are off and will stay off.

I have the relay bending with 5amp fuse moddy thingy done... I never turn my switch off and a few times I caught the fog lights turning themselves on for a minute or two. It doesn't bother me since it would take more then 60-120 seconds of fog lights on to drain the battery, especially since it's daily driven. But I can imagine if I'm going to park it for a week or so to turn off the switch...

On a side note, The first time I did catch it was when I was having a cig in my garage (don't smoke in the house) and they turned on... I had a deer in the headlights reaction (thinking "aw crap!") since I forgot about the side affect for a second.

One thing it could be and I found out my truck does this (I do not have the anytime mod).

If your truck is running and the drivers side door is closed. If you open the passenger door, turn your truck off with the lights still on, close the passenger door, lock the truck but never open your driver side door the lights never turn off and will sit there with all your lights on draining the battery.

Is it possible you did this?

As said before this is a side effect of doing it a la caribe style. The truck sends power to the ignition rail for 1-2 minutes doing a fuel check or whatever. After that time they will go off. The power drained from the battery during this time is very little, and I wouldn't worry about it unless you have a bad battery/alternator, or rarely drive the truck. I leave mine on all the time and have yet to have an issue.

A crappy side effect from the mod, by using the emissions\ fuel circuit to trick the fog relay. If you use the green wire (ignition circuit) instead this will not happen.
