Putting my Hi-Lift to bed.

I'm thinking about installing my Hi-Lift jack on the front wall of the bed just above the floor. Anyone out here do the same? I don't have a clear plan on what type of fasteners to use as getting some bolt or nut up between the cab and bed will, I believe, be difficult. I'm open to any suggestions.

 

Not sure how I feel about your exact placement, but I would prefer to use something like this.

Ya nice option however I have a Bakflip F1 which uses the bed channels to mount additionally, I haul plywood often and would not want to continually remove the jack to slide wood in above the wheel wells. I know you guys can come up with some options.

 

I had my hilift mounted in my old truck. Since my new one is a short bed and I have a tool box I decided not to mount it. Its so much easier to just throw it in the bed before you wheel than to f with mounting and dismounting it. Plus it keeps it out of the weather.

 

Yeah I would recommend the one Fink posted ( well it is my truck pictured LOL) its a great mount and very easy to get too.

I appreciate all the options thrown out there, but I am really forced to mount it to the front wall of the bed near the floor, so what I really need to know is how to fasten the mounting brackets to the bed. Please keep in mind I'm trying to figure out how to get up between the bed and the cab with a nut or bolt or some other type of fastener.

 

only thing i can think of would be to put the nut between the cab and bed and bold in the bed. as far as getting it there, if you lay under the truck, you might be able to get your hand and arm high enough to hold it with a wrench as a buddy tightens the nut.

 

Get the 4xRac system, i used it to mount mine to the toolbox and i havent had any issues with it!

Cool deal, the bolts on it are a bit long and if they are too long to fit between the bed and cab then just get a dremel and cut em down a bit... that's what i did inside my box.

 

As far as getting behind the front of the bed at the back of the cab...you could try to find a long open-end wrench.

Another option would be to weld a metal dowel rod on the end of an open-end wrench and use that to hold the nut while you tighten the bolt from inside the bed. You'd have a dedicated tool to keep in your truck for tightening the mount bolts.

Get a small floor jack instead!! they aren't as scary or likely to damage your truck or kill you in general

actually get both they both have good uses

 

I mounted my C02 tank to the front of the bed and starting the nuts was a pain but if your mounting at the bottom it shouldn't be too bad. Just mark where you want to mount it and drill the holes. Your not going to be able to get the bolt through the bed from between the cab so i would fab up a bracket of some sort to mount to the bed to make your Hi-Lift easy to remove

 

Find a buddy and pull the bed off the truck. It's not that hard. Bolt up your brackets and put the bed back on. Buy your friend some lunch for helping and call it good.
