Hi guys, I just got the new 09 tacoma regular cab pre-runner. When i am driving, there is always these 2 yellow lights on in front of my car. Even though my headlights are turned off, these are always on and I can't find a way to turn them off. does anyone know how I can turn them off? they look like small rectangles, not the circular shape of the headlights and they are near the center. thank you.

Those are your Day Time Running Lights. Do a search on here and you'll find something about this

some of this, a little of that
Those are your daytime running lights/turn signals. They will be on as long as you are driving with your headlights off. They should turn off when you turn on your lights. I think there is a thread around here on disableing them thou.

Oh and Welcome to TW

Those are the daytime running lights (dtrl). They turn on when I disengage the parking brake on my truck. There are some members on TW who have actually made it so their truck would have the dtrl mod because it did not come that way. I don't know how to turn them off, but you may want to use the search tool to find threads about it.

I think it's funny how all of the mod's that we do (05-08) to our trucks the 09's have them and they want to disable it.

There's the beep when you lock the door, and now the DTRL. What next?

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
I hate daytime lights. My wife's car has them. I also can't stand plastic lens covers either because they eventually start to fade. Her car is 7 years old and I have to buff the lens covers every other time I clean it. Guess I'm too old-fashioned.

My 09 does not have them and if it did I would disable them. I have had Saabs and you simply pulled the DTRL fuse to disable them. Boy do I NOT miss my Saabs.

how come you want to disable it? what is the downside of having them on? do they waste a lot of energy?

Predental, I dont really have a concrete answer except to say that I dont see a need for lights on in the day. Yes, fog, yes, harsh rain, yes, harsh snow. Though, the real main reason comes from memories of driving around with my dad (27 years ago) and if someone had their lights on during the day he would mumble some swear word about the person to himself and since then it has stuck with me.

My truck doesn't have DTRL's because it's an AC, I believe the DC's only have them, I would like to find out to get them installed though, I think Those DTRL makes the trucks look badass and intimidating
