For you guy`s who are using a shorter than stock antenna , which one are you using? Post up info/pics if you got them? My wife`s truck with the 6" lift her antenna hits the top of every floor in her parking garage. Thanks!!!!

I've heard good things about cravenspeed. Though i know the whole reception thing with shorter antenna's blah..like i said, i could care less about FM radio. I have an aux cable and pandora. All I need. I love the look of mine. But try cravenspeed, I've heard they work pretty good. :)

Just cut original to desired length, the ball on the top pulls off with pliers and can be re-installed after the piece of antenna has been cut.

That is a good idea to just cut it off if it will still work. Those darn things are hella long.

Quick question, is there anything that almost serves like a plug for the base? Something I can put screw in there when I remove my antenna? Reason I ask is because I NEVER use the radio, so the shorter antenna (or plug) I can find, the better. When I had my Cobra, I put one of those hidden antenna's under the dash, then had the antenna and base shaved off the fender for a clean look. I just want the smallest possible thing showing, I may have it shaved eventually like I did then.

This is the best picture I have to show what I'm talking about, the antenna WAS on the passenger fender, top left part of the picture:

I do not have any pics but the short antenna on old cadillac cars and chevy cars and some others usually on the back window will work if you find one on wrcked car and screw a bolt in the end of the short antenna
and cut the head of the bolt off the screw it in the place where the antenna goes and I get a good signal and did not spend alot of money.

Keeping the antenna long, or at least a bit taller than the highest point of your truck, is a great way to know if you are getting close to scraping your lifted truck on the ceiling of a parking garage. LOL. (seriously true though)

I decided to do the stock antenna chop this weekend since i had my dremel out with the cutting wheel on. I could not get that little ball off the tip to save my life. I finally just cut it off flush at the ball and decided i would dremel out a little hole to stick it back on. I found out that it is very hard to hold on to a tiny ball while trying to bore a hole in it with a tool that is trying to spin the ball. And that metal is HARD. I am going to have to go get a diamond coated dremel bit to bore a hole in it. Leave it up to me to make something so easy so hard.
