e locker swap

wanting to swap an e locker into my sr5. I know I can mod the housing but it will def be a pita. I have found a lot of older 4runner e locker 3rds and 1st gen rear ends. If I did end up swapping just the 3rds would the 4 runner ones fit?

I was wondering I can can use the runner 3rd gen in my 2nd gen (with axle housing mods)

 

Potentially next year. You should be able to. Is it not the same axle?

 

no sr5 open diff so it'll need some cutting

 

1gen housing won't fit your truck because 2gen is wider axle. so that NO. e-locker 3rd is the same acroos the years, housing changed (width)
Not sure what is your cost but I would consider options.
