Hello all...this is my first post but have been reading the great posts on TW for some time now...so thanks everyone! Long story short...Leesburg Toyota "evaluated" my truck today and could not replicate my truck bottoming out, so the end result at this time is no dice on the rear leaf tsb. Their test was placing 4 techs in the vehicle. I own an '08 4x4 Dbl. Cab OR which clearly qualifies for the service. I shared with the dealership prior to the '08's being eligible for the the tsb that I have experienced bottoming out with heavy loads under the rated capacity. I even contacted customer service prior to bringing in the vehicle today and was told the customer relations rep. would be in touch, to date I have not heard from this person. I contacted Yota customer service again today and was told a case manger would be in touch with me on Monday. I am just disgusted and frustrated...any recomendations are more than welcome. Any delearships in Northern VA that you had a good experience with please let me know! I will keep you posted.....

Keep calling Toyota (CS) back until you're satisfied.

It's just so weird... I took mine to the same dealer I bought the truck and didn't get any hassles or tests. A buddy I work with took it to another dealer (closer) and they wouldn't do it. He had to complain to Toyota Customer Service. He finally won the battle.

    Be patient....and keep calling!

I'd try another dealer, if still no go call toyota corp and get a case number. My dealer here didn't think twice, I just told them I picked up some basic materials at lowes and it bottomed out. Had it in that week (could have been sooner but my schedule prevented it).

    YOU MUST 'PROVE' NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not yelling at you but these people make me so mad when they try to tell you that it must be proved.

Looking up some pertinant threads for you that will help. Give me just a minute.

Thats bullshit. There is a TSB released by Toyota Motors. Your vehicled clearly falls under the TSB. They should do it without even trying to witness the problem themselves. Take it to another dealer, seems like the one you went to does not want to add more paperwork to their warrany dept.

Question(s): How in THE HELL is it a "test" of your trucks load carrying capabilities by having 4 guys ride in it? Did they all ride in the bed while going over speed bumps and doing 70mph on I95 and hitting an expansion joint (I bottomed out in both situations with about 500lbs in the bed)? That is just plain stupid, not that a "test" is even required.

I'm getting mine done soon here in MB from my dealer. I called up, told them about the above, and the service guy said "No problem. I'll order the parts.".

Thanks HT for the refernce threads....and everyone else as well! I really had to keep my "cool" when the service advisor fed me the lame "4 passenger test". Not even close to being loaded up for a deer hunting trip, etc. and actually off-road as opposed to the paved street they drove on. To make it worse he stated because I have a cap(snug-top XV) that reduces my payload....it will to some degree, but what a bunch nonsesne, it's not thatheavy....at this point I prefer to go to another dealer, although none are real close to home, as it's clear they have no desire to perform the service.

probably a little far for ya but i had mine done at Priority Toyota south of Richmond. no problems.
I have sense then gotten an 08 and relocated. now i can't get the local dealer to just order the parts. they too wanna "prove it" and evaluate it.

if you were a service writer with a small wanker and a guy walks in with a tsb printed out saying he wants it done and just wants parts ordered, would you think it would really need to be thoroughly questioned as to whether or not it falls under warranty????

Not only the points mentioned earlier, but what Service Dept. doesn't want commissions on a $1400 service ticket for 3 hrs. (max) of time?

No wonder the economy is in the Porcelain American Standard, 1.0 Gallons per flush.

Just load a $400 motorcycle in the back and have them drive down a gravel, washboard road at 30 mph. And if they still have anything left to vacate from their bowls, they'd do it tomorrow.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Print out a copy of the TSB PDF and highlight all the areas that pertain to your truck. Take that directly to the Service Manager and ask when you can set up an appointment for the work. You can also point out to him that you don't care for his techs jumping around in the bed of your vehicle and that you have been in touch with the Toyota customer service department but would like to resolve the issue prior to assisting in the "Signature Toyota Service" banner being removed from his department. He should hook you up.

    You're welcome redbone!

Good words Jay!! Stay outta my bed!!!!!!!!!!:infantry::mudding:

For the record, regarding having to prove anything, just in case someone doesn't click on the links above, highlight this quote below which is found on the second page and read it to the dealer 18 times if you have to!!!!!!!!
"Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer’s specific
    complaint."

This means all you must do is have a specific complaint about a 'Harsh Ride'!!! It's a customer complaint generated TSB!....period....end of story, end of thread!!:quickdraw:

I had mine done at Koons Toyota of Annapolis. I e-mailed them the link to the TSB along with my complaint. I delt with Mike Burrell. No questions asked. They e-mailed me when the parts arrived and my truck was done. BTW, they let me supply the Bilstein 5100s and installed them at my designated height. I did this so I wouldn't have to get aligned twice since the TSB includes an alignment. They gave me the TSB supplied Bilsteins for me to keep. And a rental vehicle to boot...

Koons also has a Toyota dealer in Tysons Corner,VA; may want to e-mail them as I did with the one in Annapolis...

FWIW, there is a thread on here specific to which dealers performed the TSBs..good luck

That's top notch service right there grivera.

To the OP, give your toyota case number to a different dealer and be done with the original dealer and don't go back there.
