UPDATE: Painting finished, Corbeau seats and OEM console added

This is the finished product to the earlier thread I had started about the body work and such I was having done to my truck while deployed to Iraq. Firstly, I had all of the dents filled and then had everything painted because, well, after 13 years she really needed it. Structural integrity, rust protection, and other rationale on my part was to justify shelling out the money for this when really it just boiled down to that fact that I love my truck and I wanted her to look like she ought to. Also, now I have a blank canvas to bang up on the trails.



The new quarter windows are awesome looking. I was finally able to get rid of the "privacy" mirrored gray factory tint and just get clear ones that I had tinted to 20% myself. I had the flares painted as well so I can Rhinoline them along with the rocker panels when I get back. Also, I replaced my door handles because, being an SR5, they were chrome. I had rattle-canned them but the paint was wearing off from my keys scraping up against them all the time.



Here's what I'm really excited about. The 60/40 bench that killed my back has gone the way of the Dodo bird. I installed Corbeau Baja RS seats along with a 2001 OEM center console.



No more having to balance a drink between my legs while working the clutch and shifting gears. Now I can put my coffee cup in there on my way to PT in the morning. Cup holders! Huzzah!

Not hard at all. The Corbeau universal bracket kit the stock holes perfectly.

 

Now it's time for 5pt harnesses..........looks badass.

How much did they run you? I also have the 60/40 bench/bucket deal, and hate the lack of center-console and cupholder. I took my truck on a 2 hour long trip yesterday (first time I took my truck out of town in a while...and my back was KILLING ME!).

I would love seats like that....

Also, do the stock seatbelt buckles just bolt up?

Thanks man. I know your pain with the stock bench. Actually, you can see my lumbar support pillow on the passenger seat in the interior pic. No need for that any more! The seats and brackets for both, including shipping, was about $825 and, yes, the buckles just stay right where they're at. As long as you put in the center console first and then the seats it will fit. It really wasn't working with the buckles trying to put the console in with the seats already installed.

How much did you shell out for the center console, and did you have to mod anything for it to bolt in?

 

A pretty penny indeed. I bought mine for about $230 from www.toyotapartscheap.com. No mods, just drilling and bolts.

 

May I ask the specifics of your purchase on the seats and brackets. Who did you get the whole bundle from?

No problem. I bought everything individually. The universal corbeau seat brackets are $100 a piece from www.4wheelparts.com and the seats were from www.jcwhitney.com for $300 each.

 

I just wanted say thanks to everyone for the positive responses to the work I've been doing on my truck. This site has helped me immensely, from all the of "How To" articles to product reviews. I still have a lot more to do and I'm looking forward to it all.

now that some time has passed... how you liking the seats? holding up pretty well?

 

They're awesome. My frequent drives up to MD aren't so bad anymore. No lower back issues like with the bench. Couldn't be happier.
