It sounds pretty sick. Can't say I'd recommend getting a Race Ready Performance one though. Their customer service is top notch but the product isn't the best. It's always given me problems with it leaking and making a vibrating noise that sounds like crap. I've sent it in and they put their spring kit on it and that did nothing. I think it's time for some redneck engineering of my own or just remove it altogether.

 

Little update:

I got some JLC(yeah I know, how appropriate) LED reverse lights. They are so much better than stock but don't project as close to the truck so if you have a reverse cam it may be a problem but looking over the tailgate it is not.

Jason, are your wheel specs the same as the TRD beadlocks wheels?

 

Yep, I made sure the alignment tabs on the lca's weren't bent because I figured they would be the first to go. Then I checked was to see if my spindles were bent but thankfully everything is good as far as I can tell. It folded the transmission skid(if you can call it that) back at the corner. I'm not sure if the cross member was landed on or if it just got sprayed with crap from in front of it. I'll look closer tomorrow to see if there's paint missing under the dirt.

not sure i like it as much as the first one, but it's good. seems like they keep having all kinds of easily prevented problems though. i get the feeling that they were originally a bunch of outdoorsmen who picked up on off road vehicles

 

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. They said they were going to release one on Tuesday. I'm curious what they were doing wrong. I felt bad for that bike the first episode.

though it's extremely nice, he's on the wrong bike for what he's doing.

 

I felt bad for the bike not the guy but I guess I felt a little bad for him. I agree he should be on a much lighter bike for that if not 4 wheels for the crawling.

 

haha, gotcha, yeah. that bike took a beating. at least it had a skid plate. a 4x4 atv would be best for him, but he's barely carrying anything, so he could easily fit all he's got (two paniers and a winch) on a dirt bike half the weight.

 

oh, you get a chance to start on the flat belly skid yet?

That makes me wonder as these adventure bikes gain popularity if the big names will put effort into making "adventure" atv's that are road legal etc. They can certainly carry more.

 

that'd be realy cool to see a stret legal ATV. hard to make i'd imagine.

a guy i work with down here has what i would think is a good bike for that kind of stuff. it's made by Husqvarna (the chainsaw company). he has street tires on it now, but a set of knobby tires and you're be good to go. street legal, light weight and full of power and suspension travel.

 

Supermoto's are bad ass. Is it a 250?

i'm not sure of the size thoug. might see him tomorrow. i'll ask if i can remember. it'd have plenty of power for the stuff the expedition guy had though.

 

Yeah for the off road it may but I wonder how it would do on the interstate. Also, it may have a limited range. Have you ridden it?
