Once the key comes on all of the lights are solid. I didn't have the correct relay but I went and got the correct one today. 275-0218 from radio shack. I do not hear a click. The only thing different is that I taped into the white/blk cable for ground. I just don't know what the hell is wrong.

This may be the problem. I did the following:

    1. Violet
    2. Green/Blk
    3. Pink
    4. Violet
    5. Blue
    6. Green
    7. Red/Blk
    8. Ground

Would this causing the 20a 4wd fuse to blow?

Going but the number on the relay and matching them to your drawing, I am getting the same result. I am blowing the 20a fuse. I gave up and put it back together and all is working now. Man I really wanted this option.

Based on the attached image you can see which color went to which connector. I originally connect to the free wires going to the inside of the truck. But once that didn't work I then moved the wire from the relay to the free wires on the white connector going to the 4x4 module. I then recieved lights but this is when i started blowing fuses. I then took your 1 - 8 color combination and mirrored to mine. Basically my were on oppiste sides than yours. But still connected to the white connector that goes to the module.

The insturctions are good, but man they leave so much room for errors for others that don't know electronics. In the instructions is says connect to pole A and pole B, yet I have yet to find anything that tells me what A and B is on my relay.

Call me later before 7pm CST because I am going hog hunting!

Okay this is what I have. Based on the relay the pins are number 1 - 8 so I followed you color sequence. Now I am getting the relay to click on the switch but my red locker light doesn't come on and I don't hear the locker.

    any ideas?

    1 - Green/Blk
    2 - Violet
    3 - violet
    4 - Pink
    5 - Green
    6 - Blue
    7 - Red/Blk
    8 - Ground

    Got it working!!!!
Latest updates for you out there that are not electronic specialist like me. I will simply add to the Great instructions but put a few key points for those that are not 100% sure about this process.
First off all "READ" and go over all information. In the instructions it talked about pole a and pole b. This through me off. But if you refer to the link http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/4838-cheap-free-mods.html #3 under Gen 2 you will find the color wire for each pin.
    1- Green / Black
    2- Violet
    3- Violet
    4- Pink
    5- Green
    6- Blue
    7- Red/Black
    8- Ground
This is because the RadioShack relay #2750218 is numbered 1 - 8. So I decided to rewire everything. But the other problem was once you cut the wiring harness, which side does your connector go on? Well it should be simple, the side going to the inside of the truck and not the side going to the white connector for the ECU. Once everything is connected get a multi-meter and check continuity on all of your connections to make sure you are good. Then check pins 2 & 3 to make sure you have 12 volts while the keys is turned on (truck doesn't have to be started). Then push the locker switch and you should hear the relay click or hold it and you can feel it while at the same time you can hear the motor(locker) engage and disengage.
If so you are good to go. Once you push the button the lights will not come on. You will have to role the truck forward until the locker physically locks and then normal lights come on.

Thanks for the help from PSU Taco85 & piercedtiger for their help!!

Sometimes just having it locked in 2H is a nice option. I don't think I will use it often, but I want the option without 4x4.

I have driven a number of cars in the past with LSD and lockers, so I have decent experience on how the vehicle reacts when engaged. I had a spool in my race car as well.

I live in chicagoland and would like to have it locked when driving in 2hi so I do not have to run around in 4wd all the time and kill my mpg.

Have any of you guys driven on the street with this engaged. Does it drag the inner wheel on a turn and bark the tire?? I would like to use it on days of snow that is light and the plows are still cleaning it up.

I am assuming this will act like a spool and basically lock both wheels to spin at the same speed no matter what, correct?

You don't have your vehicle info on your profile.

This mod only applies to the TRD Off Road models with the mechanical rear locker. Assuming that's what you have, then you are right, it will be just like a spool when engaged.

I have not driven on the street with the locker engaged. I am sure it would be okay if there is a low traction condition to keep from over stressing the relatively weak ring and pinion in these trucks. I would not want to do it on dry pavement for fear of breaking something.

I am told that a locker can be a scary ride in the snow or ice, but I'm a Cali native and don't know much about snow:cool: Careful out there if you go through with it.

    I do have a DCSB 4x4 OR

I will likely do the mod but looks like it is better to not have engaged while I am driving around, better off just using 4hi.

    Thanks

I would not run around locked. Now with snow on the ground it will reduce the friction, but I would agree that in those conditions you should use 4hi.

I checked the 4wd one but it wasn't blown,I try the two ways people said to hook the relay up 218 one,the only thing I had trouble on is that the lite blue wire is it the big one or small one?

Most likely you didn't wire correct like me and you blew one of the fuses. I had a hard time figuring out the diagram(lack of understanding) but if you do it correctly it will not pop the fuse.
