    Jeeps aren't all that bad, like any other maker you'll have some that will get beat to shit thru most of their ownership & keep on going, others will never see 100K

    I had a 68' kaiser built CJ5 that came stock with a Buick V6 & posi rear(on a jeep this is about as close to having a locker as you can get without actually having one) Those short axles like to turn together which made for a squirrely ride, on pavement down right scary if you weren't ready for it, never felt safe in that fucking thing...:eek:

    not all of them, just the short wheel base ones, like the wrangler. Thoes things spin like a top on snow. one of the guys we ride with has a wrangler, and as soon as he takes it out of 4wd in the snow he said it became almost uncontrollable.

    If I didn't have a Tacoma, I would have a Jeep. I like 'em a lot. I just hate most of the douches that drive them.

    ??? ive had 3 with that engine some of the best ive had, IMO they killed the wrangler when they changed to the minivan motor with the JK. that 4.0 was the shit, each of mine went well over 100k without a single issue. not good mpg but its a jeep who cares.

    bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
    I drive a '11 taco, wife has a 08 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, both are excellent vehicles for life in the mountains...gas milage is about the same, the Jeep is better for hauling groceries, the taco better for hauling just about everything else.

    The jeep has blizzaks for the winter, the taco, studded firestone winterforce UV, neither one of us gets stuck even on steep ice.

    Good luck with the jeep...let us know what your maintenance costs are after a few years....

    I had a 97 TJ Wrangler, with a 4" lift, 33" MTR's, that thing drove great on the highway, not squirly at all. I drove that thing from CA to WI, and WI to UT. Then I sold it to a guy that drove it from UT to VA. Even with the 33's and all the armor that was on that thing, I could still get 18 mpg with the 4.10 gears in it. That was actually a great vehicle and I didn't really have any issues with it, only had to change out the water pump that started leaking. I decided to go with a Tacoma so I could actually have enough room to take gear for a weekend and still bring the dog and GF, but still have a somewhat capable off road vehicle for the mountains.
