Cranking Torsion Bar

I have been told to crank my torsion bar to raise the front end and to also stiffen up the suspension. Can anyone walk me through this process?

 

i didnt know 02's had torsion bars

But its pretty simple if you have a vehicle with tbars on it.

1. Get underneath vehicle and locate tbars. Follow them back to the frame rails, and see a "box" looking thing.
2. Theres a nut, i want to say 1 1/16" nut. I put a wrench on it, and tightend it untill it looked level with my 3" blocks.
3. Repeat on other side. Drive around and re-adjust/measure with tape to assure accuracy on either side and levelness.

 

on an 02 you shouldnt have torsion bars. best i know of they quit using them with the beginning of the tacoma. pre-tacos had torsion bars.

 

What are you cranking torsion bars on??? Toyota trucks havent used torsion bars since the early 90's

 

i dont even think that..i think late 80's

 

they used them all the way up to the first half of 1995. any pre-tacoma pickup that has IFS had torsion bars. after they introduced the tacoma it was released with the newer spring and strut or coilover setup.

 

dang..well how can i raise my front end without spending 200 bucks or more for a kit?

spacers! Or a leveling kit

 

Cheapest way is to put a spacer lift, spacers that go either in or on top of the coil spring. everyone tends to not recomend this but its cheap, tends to wear out the front end

 

yeah just so it is level with the back end if possible. im 16 so im not really good with all the technical stuff and parents are afraid of a lift being "unsafe"

 

put a 2 inch spacer in the front and it will be even with the rear and basically ride the same

 

more of a chance of flipping the truck when you lift it.

 

how much will those run me? and would i have to get someone to install them or can i do it myself? im trying to get some cheap mods for this truck like leveling it and possibly some kind of exaust if anyone can throw out some advice about some exaust mods.

 

Yeah, what everyone else said. Get some spacers for the front.

Ide go with a flow master super 40 I put it on my Tacoma with an 8 inch flowpro tip for just over 200$ she sounds like a dream
