2 Pro Comp Stage 1 kits - ES3000 & ES9000 - which did you get?

I see some variation between the 2 6" stage 1 kits. Is there any advantage between 1 or the other? Which one did you get? They are the same price but the ES9000 kit appears to come with coilovers.

 

I think I have studied those kits until I was blue in the face. From what I have read, the first one is for 05-10 non VSC models, and the second one is for VSC models...

I just ordered mine, and it was part# K5073B from ProComps website (VSC).

I think what is throwing you off is ProComp has the wrong picture. It shows MX coils, but those don't actually come with Stage 1. MX Coils are stage 2 only...

If you have VSC get K5073B. If you order it from the 4WP store,they will probably confirm which rig you have and ensure you get the right one.

On another note, if anybody actually knows what is different between the VSC and non-VSC kits, I would love to hear.

 

I guess we've both been studing the options/pictures.....and I agree, I don't think those coilovers come with the $1500 kit. The kit U plan on getting comes with the AAL also, which seems a better option than just a block.

I intend to go to their store in Charlotte to make the purchase & ensure that the right kit is received. I need to pick up a few other goodies while I'm there anyway. Do you plan to do the install yourself?

 

Well, I know it is 5 boxes of parts. At least, that is what I see on my receipt. A lot of people on this forum REALLY trash talk 4WP. This will be my first time dealing with 4WP first hand.... I have to say, so far the manager has been amazing answering my many questions, and that's what made me finally pull the trigger in going with them. I will have more to say on this next week once the kit is installed.

Which leads to answer your last question. I am not doing it myself. This month, they have the $500 install coupon which IMO was too good to pass up. I know if you say that on this forum, they will trash talk the technician etc. I know this local store here as installed three Tacoma 6" ProComps this month alone, so I have no doubt they will do great with mine.

Last year, same time, ProComp offered a $500 instant rebate and not on the install. If it was that same deal, I would have installed it myself and saved even more. I'm getting the kit, installation, alignment for undeer 2 Gs.

I have read the instructions myself about three times over, so I will be able to easily work on it once it is fixed. I recommend you go that route too. Not sure what your financial situation is like, but I'd rather pay them to do the work, know it was done right, then try and find help and do it myself while cussing and kicking.

I know very little about coilovers, but I keep reading this ICON brand is excellent. Not sure if they are better than the MX6 with the Stage 2, but if I ever want to upgrade, I'd consider these just as much as the MX6.

I know there are lots running that setup, they can say for sure.

As far as the back, I have posted a question a couple of times but haven't gotten much input. Do you have the TSB springs on your truck? You can look and see if it is a 4-leaf pack or just 3.

Since I have the TSB, i'm unsure if I need to have the shop install the AAL... I want the truck to sit level, and have no rake. Right now, the rear is up by about 1.5 inches...

 

I think I have a 3 leaf pack on mine, I'll have to check. The ICON would definetly be something to look at later but for now the budget is limited. Hell....I'm selling an extra car of mine to finance this lift/tires.

If 4WP has that same install rebate when I go up there, I'll definetly let them do the knuckle busting!

The wheels were the hardest part.

 

Gonna try to stick with the Ivan Stewarts that I currently have on the truck (16x8) with a BF Goodrich KM2...LT315/75R16/D. If the 16" wheel has a clearance issue with the lift kit, then I'll go to plan B. I was told by another member than his 16's fit fine with this kit but is real close on the tie rod ends.

 

I'm 99% sure that 16s (or even 17s) are too small for the pro-comp lift. I believe 17s will jive with the FabTech, but the pro-comp calls for 18's are larger...

You can double check with the shop when you go visit them.

Well, I think there are great deals out there, and depending on your location, you will find some even better deals than others. I live in NM and I thought we have some cheap rates, but the quotes from Florida members are even cheaper.

The "install" price for me was $600 and like $100 for the alignment (I got the whole "shabang" during the December deal $500 coupon. I paid $1950 OTD). I got my lift purchased and installed from 4WP and couldn't possibly be happier. They did an excellent job so I give them rep. You hear a lot of people bitch about them and maybe other locations are worse than others, but these guys did a great job and accommodated my weird schedule AND answered my every one of my countless question.

I ramble at night, sorry. To get the best rate find 2-3 shops you trust and price match. Ultimately, go with the best at any cost.... I say $800 is the most you should spend.
