Anybody have any other solutions for the low rear view mirror?

I know there have been some threads about moving it up and turning it upside down and I have tried that and it is still bad. I am wondering if there is an aftermarket mirror that is thinner that would help out. I thought about remounting, but then I would have that black spot on the windshield and I am rather anal retentive. Between the A pillar and the mirror and having to duck down it is pretty dangerous.

 

Put it on the windshield, push the piece in the middle towards the roof as much as it'll go then set the mirror where you can see out of it. Haven't noticed it being any different than in any other vehicle. Even with the GPS mounted where it is under the mirror isn't causing any sight issues.

 

Hmmmm, tried that. I am 6-1 and straight across the mirror to the A-pillar is a solid blind spot. I have to duck down at 4 ways stops and such to check the right side. Maybe it is just me?

It is mostly a rear window design problem. I've done the flip mod, and now it's so high, all I can get at that angle is the headliner, 2" above the tailgate and the tailgate.
The roof line rolls too far down the back and the window is too low. Thats why they needed to mount the mirror so low. I've pretty much eliminated the rear view mirror from my scan, now.

 

jmastrj: Take it off and leave it off for a while...you'll notice the difference. It will be better. I have a similar thread about removing the black plastic/metal stud glued on the windshield, but I guess it is illegal in Florida. Sure hope your not from there. Tssk, Tssk. I wish I knew as much as I did at 24 than I do now at 59. Remember to watch the road!!!

 

I'm a little confused. I'm 6' even, and have never noticed any problems with the rear view. Perhaps your seat back is too far up?

 

Same problem here. I'm 5'10 and the mirror was right in front of my eyes blocking the view. Even upside down it still interferred. I eventually bought another metal (not plastic!) mirror mount and glued it on a few inches higher. Now the mirror sits rightside up, all the way at the top. I can see perfectly out the back window. The old mounting block is just barely visible on the bottom of the mirror and not worth removing.

ya I'm 6'4 and have had the same issues. I kinda learned to work around it and it isnt too bad of a problem

 

hmmm,... I've never had a problem with it. I'm 5'7" though
