What gear oil should I get?

    I am in need of cv axles and while I am at it I am going to change the gear oil in the front end along with the transmission and transfer case. I am a manual transmission. I know I need GL5
    $29 75w 90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75w 90 and I need about 1.5 gallons for all of it. Just changed my rearend. Whats best for the transmission and tcase?

    trans, get some redline MT-90. Youll probably have to order it online but its worth it.

    for diffs and transfer case, I used mobile 1 75-90 synthetic i found at autozone.

    My truck used to grind a tiny bit on the 1-2 shift before changing the oil. No more of that with the redline.

    i don't have any grinding issues or really any shifting issues just feel like it would not hurt to change all the fluids

    i use royal purple in my rear diff and transfer case, i used what ever i have with me on my front since it leaks like a sumbitch

    thats high dollar oil i was looking at the valvoline thats what i put in the rear diff. would it hurt to put 80w 90 in the transmission tcase front end? i ask because it can be bought by the gallon cheaper? or just buy the

    its up to you. All I know is GL-5's have been known to eat brass syncros in the trans.

    did not know that i just looked in the book that came with the truck and it says gl 5

    go with the 80/90 if its cheaper, it shouldnt hurt

    valvoline is pretty good, hell if ya change it every 30k or dont beat the crap out of your truck idt it matters too much.

    or lucas, ive used lucas before too

    my truck just sees highway i don't offroad. the only offroad driving i do a camery could drive down just fine. i do use 4wd in snow and so forth. i just want good fluids that will not harm or cause issues

    yeah i wouldnt worry bout getting stuff like royal purple, valvoline or lucas will do plenty fine, as for the gl5 look on the back of the container

    ok so gl 4 in the trans appro. 2.5 qts according to the book. another 2.2 qts of gl 5 for the tcase and another 2.5 qts for the front diff of gl 5
