Anyone know where to get an antenna cable/mount? After installing fiberglass fenders I don't want to drill into those for my antenna. I just want to unplug the stock cable and run a new one out to my bedrail against the cab.

 

Take the cable and run it through your A-Pillar. It should get reception between either or.

 

Your saying just leave it in there not attached to an antenna?

 

I bought an extension cable at NAPA, plugged that into the back of my radio (unplugged factory antenna), ran that extension to the back of the truck, and plugged in a regular OEM replacement antenna (stubby antenna, also from NAPA) and mounted it on my bed bar with my CB and 2M antennas.

 

Thanks Chase. Exactly what I wanted to hear. I think I asked this question a long time ago and you commented but I forgot what you said. Is there a special mount I need? I'm just wanting to mount it on a bracket.

 

No, I'm saying take the extra cable length and run it through the A-Pillar, aka where the windshield and cab meet. Modifying; ie taking the plastic trim out and placing the cable along the sheet metal.

You can try just running the cable under the windshield wiper valance.

 

What does that solve? Still no antenna. I must be missing something.

Or you get reception because your fillings from your dental work have corroded and are receiving signals, You should get those looked at.

 

Here is what I used. It plugs into your stereo antenna connector and a 12v source. I ran all the wires through the dash and head liner. I mounted the receiver box next to the rear view mirror and have no issues with signal.
