El Cheapo 4WD selector switch.

I like my 2012 Tacoma but there is one thing that really iritates me, that is the fact that Toyota is too damn cheap to illuminate the 4WD switch.
They illuminate the Tundra but not our Tacomas.
Don't suppose the Tundra switch will fit the Tacoma is there?

and they werent cheap, they chose appropriate for the price, they could of done it but cost would of gone up. if this is what grinds yer gears, shoulda gotten a tundra

According to page 80 of his thread sounds like only the arrow can be lit up on the 2012 switch

 

It does appear that way as the dash has been redesigned around the switch.
Which brings me to ask if anyone can look at a Tundra and see if the switch is similar to the Tacoma?
Its 40 miles to the closest Toyota dealer for me.

I'm gonna go with they were cheap. The cost of that part would have probably cost them pennies to add to the millions of Tacomas sold.

 

Could you please measure the diameter of the switch, the whole switch not just the knob,

The whole switch measures 2 1/2" across at the center taking a couple of measurements.
I used a piece of paper tucked just under the raised black inner knob which is at the center.
From there, I made a tick mark at the outer edge of the trim ring (the whole switch) on both sides.
Then I put the paper on against a ruler to get the meaurement.
If you measure your truck the same at least you will know how it will fit.
