    http://www.aerocatch.com/?gclid=CObquaaKsK8CFUQb6wodXkpDDg

    Lessons Learned:
    - Transmission: Tranny calls for GL-4 or GL-5 grade lubricants. I used a GL-5 Synthetic (Same as rear diff so i could just buy multiple at the time). The GL-5 has slightly different additives to it, making it seem a lot more thicker in the icey temps here in Canada. Makes it harder to shift then regular dino oil till she's warmed up. I will be using a straight GL-4 next time.

    - Soundproofing: Wait the 24 hours recommended for the damn stuff to cure properly, I waited an hour before engaging in a 2 hour highway drive, I now have tiny rocks and rock dust embedded into the rubber wheelwell coating.. barely noticeable, but still, wait!

    - URD TCAI: If you have one of these installed on your vehicle, and travel at speeds higher then highway, DO NOT put your vehicle into neutral to coast. The wind pressure buffeting at the front of your vehicle will mess with the MAF sensor and cause your engine to be unable to maintain Idle, causing your engine to stall.. at highway speeds. Creating loss of Power steering & brakes. You must buy the cover shielding to prevent this effect. or.. you know.. just don't switch to neutral while speeding.

    - Grille: The stock grill requires ALL of the mounts to be stable, I had broken 1 of the circle black clips and forgotten to replace it, over time (just a few months) the vibs broke off the front colour surround while on the highway due to wind forces.
    post".
    - Belt replacement: If your stranded on the side of the highway with a blown belt and you have a spare but no tools. Your tire iron can be used as a pry bar to move the tensioner pulley.

    - Exhaust sensors: Don't use anti-sieze to install sensors.. they will fire out under full load. Use heat rated locktit

This is me, the man behind the madness:

The story of my Xr: It has been smashed, rebuilt, boosted, and much, much more:
(Order of events might be a little off as I can't remember shit)

When I was 18 I walked into our local Toyo dealership and saw for the first time in my life a 2005 Speedway Blue X-Runner sitting on the show room floor. Fell in love with it instantly. It took me 5 years to save up enough to finally get my own. When I had the money I searched for 3 months to find the right one. And when I finally found it sitting as a mitsubishi dealership in Calgary, they actually had 2.

One was a 2006 Black xr with 68,000 km's on er, and mine the day I bought it, March 28, 2010, with only 32,000 km's.

First thing I did while still at Dealership was get a sound proof undercoating and the rust proofing. I highly recommend getting the sound proof coating, supposedly lowers road noise by 40%, I'd definitely believe it. As for the rust proofing, I see no rust so must be good!

Leaving dealership I added my trusty co-pilot, my Passport 9500 Ix
Have you accidently knocked up your wife/gf/one night stand?? I sell coat hangers: $10 + Shipping
    [IMG]

2 weeks after I bought my taco, my neighbor traded in his 1990 Rav4 for a 2010 taco. a week later i started reversing into my stall, he's done the same ever since. Taco fever ftw

3 weeks after I got my truck it was hit by a drunk driver doing 60ish km/h in a parking lot outside of a Bar. they ran into the back so hard the Box flexed into the back passenger side of the truck cab. $16,700 to fix my truck.

After everything got fixed, I was surfing Xr-u when this amazing deal came up on a set of TRD Neoprene Seat Covers, the guy had gotten the Head rests custom stitched to say "X-Runner". This began my modding and always hunting for discounts, Almost nothing on my truck was paid full price for.

Bought some Weather Tech Floor mats from a TW group buy:

As part of the Black Friday deal back in 2010 I bought my AFE CAI, Magnaflow exhaust, and UNICHIP performance chip. All together was only 980$ I think. All things I no longer have on my truck.

The Magnaflow exhaust had this MASSIVE drone sound right at 2100 RPMS and throughout most of the driving range, it had to go. It was replaced with a flowmaster cat-back. The local shop that did it here butchered the job, the whole things gotta come out and be replaced. (It's on my To-Do list)

I got in on the Slim cuddy group buy for 8K Headlight HID's.

The missmatch looked horrible so I got in the next group buy for a set of 8K Fog lights to match. And got a set of Andres Devil horns!

At this point my Taco got in its second accident, I was inside a Toyota dealership picking up a signal light bulb and this girl comes in asking who owns the red Tacoma out front. She backed into it with her husbands brand new Toyota Sequia. I don't have a picture cause it was dark but it smashed my passenger side headlight (HID bulb survived thank god) and scratched up my front bumper. About $2,300 to repair.

During the second set of repairs, they washed my truck outside in -30C weather, then proceeded to rip open the door they had frozen shut, ripping off half of my weather stripping in the process, since it was their fuck up, they kept it another couple days and fixed it.

Bought me some SockMonkey Zombie Response Unit Decals! :woot:

Around August of last year I came across a guy on Xr-u desperate to sell his used Supercharger, the URD MK1 kit. I ended up getting the whole thing bought shipped and custom's fee's paid for to my door at the sweet deal of 2040$.

Thus began my S/c madness, and a lesson for all to buyer beware when buying used. The retard basically tore it off his truck, slicing hoses and electrical connectors alike, causing me a massive headache to source all these ruined pieces of the kit.

I had to replace 6 hoses, 4 connections, about 10 various sized hose clamps were missing, 2 structural brackets that held up the intercooler, the entire power wiring harness for the intercooler coolant pump (relays and connectors and wiring), plus about 5 unique sized bolts that all had to be custom ordered. Also the coolant reservoir had a crack down the side. So I just replaced it with this universal one, still gotta order correct tank.

After all was said and done, my supercharger install was about 13 hours labour, 16 hours running around town sourcing parts, turned a 2 days job into a 9 day job. And put the total installed cost of my S/c around 2400$. Which is still super cheap but god damn was I pissed off for a week. Of course, all that went away the moment I took it out for a drive :D

About a week after supercharging my Xr, I was out on the highway/track/mexico playing with the governor when I kicked er back into neutral in order to coast back down to regular speeds and my engine shut off on me. I discovered after some online snooping that this was due to the new URD True Cold Air intake that was part of the S/c kit.

Apparently at excessive speeds, the wind creates a buffeting effect in front of the vehicle and the truck cannot maintain Idle. Causing a loss of power steering/brakes/etc... So I had to purchase the URD front intake shielding to combat this issue, and I figured because of all the wet & snow I might as well buy the Water bag for the intake too

Random good pics I have from Oct.2011:

Nov.2011, I was driving home from work on the highway at about 6:45AM when I came across a pretty thick snow drift crosing the road. I was only doing about 110km/h but hidden in the snow drift was a small log, about 2 inches thick, 3 feet long. I noticed it about 40 feet before I hit it, it was either I go into deep ditch on my left, hit it, or hit the bus in the lane to my right.

I moved as close to the bus as I safely could and rammed it with the front left side of my truck, tearing off the body kit piece.

The impact ended up busting all the support clips on the passenger side piece as well, so I removed it for safety reasons.

My Xmas road trip 2011, the wind pressures decided to tear off the front colour surround of my OME Grille.. I discovered later that on the top passenger side of the grill, there was a black circle plastic clip I forgot to replace after I broke it during my S/c install. This 1 of the 7 missing points and wind forces broke the passenger lower rectangular mount for the grill. This caused enough movement and vibrations to slowly seperate off the grill outer colour surround.

On the highway all I heard was *snap*.... *snap snap snap snap*... like a zipper tearing away till I could finally come to a stop.

Only a few clips remained attached, so I ripped it off on the side of the road and threw it in the box.

On the same road trip I picked up the new lower valence body kit pieces, 1300$ for parts, clips, and paint. [IMG] And theres my old surround.

Shortly after my grill surround came off, my custom TRD HomerTaco Grill came in [IMG]. First it needed a car wash for the install:

    Mid to end January, 2012:
This was hands down the strangest weekend of my life, so many ups and downs of Awesome and downright horrible happened. But to just mention truck stuff, it all started with this:

My custom sized URD belt blew when I started it up in the cold one morning, thankfully I had a spare, the old one that came with my used S/c kit. Unsure of how long this spare belt would last, I ordered a new one online that morning. In the interim, I had no spare, so I found a commercial sized belt that was only 3/4" smaller that I could use in case of emergancies.

A few days later whilst driving on the highway, in the middle of no where, my used belt blew. Wrapped around the fan, and while spinning took out one of my coolant lines with it:

Now I had the commercial shorter belt, replaced that with tools on hand, and Magyver'd a coolant fix. Sliced the hosing from my windshield washer system and fit that over the coolant connections, and zip tied it down. All this while its was -20C outside, took me about 1 1/2 hours. Filled my coolant with the litre of water I had on me.

Thank god for my torque app, I had a digital read out of my coolant temp. It couldn't maintain cooling cause of my massive coolant loss, but I could drive about 5km between heat soaks. Then sit on the side of the road for 5 minutes waiting for it to cool down (only benefit of the cold outside as I was frozen solid). About 45 km down the road I found a gas station, filled up coolant, continued on road trip.

Found a Napa Auto Parts, fixed windshield & coolant system hosing and clamps, bought yet another spare 3/4" undersized belt. Proceeded on my road trip. Discovered the undersized belt was so stretched it had an engine run life of about 5 hours. It blew (3rd belt in a week), coolant went everywhere. Thankfully I was in Red Deer, so I replaced belt with my just purchased an hour earlier spare, replaced coolant at gas station. Did the math to calculate a new Idler pulley size, put on an undersized Idler to combat tension issue. And that commercial sized belts lasted ever since (2 months so far).

Which is awesome, cause commercial size is only 50$ to replace, and URD one after shipping and customs costs me about 120$ to replace. And new idler pulley cost me like 30$? Either way, win-win.

About an hour after the 3rd belt blew, my Check engine light came on. Using torque app (seriously, that things worth it's weight in gold, get it) I discovered these codes.

After interweb research and with 82,ooo km's on my truck, I figured my MAF sensor must have coincidently gone. Replaced that at the cost of 306$ from Toyota . Only to discover that while my belt whipped around is smashed my wiring for the MAF wire extention due to my URD TCAI. I ran rich as a pig just EATING fuel the rest of that road trip till I got home and one of the X-ru.com guys sent me his spare MAF connector piece + wiring for just the price of shipping. LOVE online forum communities. :D

    March 2nd, 2012

My Supercharger failed, specifically the Rotrex C30-94, the part that actually makes the boost. Yet another joy of buying used, it only lasted aprox. 30,000km's before the bearing failed and the blades were forced into the casing wall. Grinding away enough of both that the S/c unit lost its seal and couldn't make boost anymore. Having to order a replacement anyways, I decided to throw in some extra upgrades in my order to save on costs & shipping! :woot:

Everything from URD, 3k+ worth of parts, 1 week later (Except the Draino )

Included: New Rotrex C30-94 S/c & assorted oil parts (hoses, fluid, filter etc.), 2nd gen Doug Thorley Long Tube Headers + Extenstion harnesses, URD Y-Pipe + o2 Sims. The MAF wiring connector I needed came the same day.

That very afternoon I went out to replace the broken S/c to get truck back up to par:

    April 5/12 4:30am:

Blew another belt on the side of the highway, this one lasted me about 2 months. Kinda of trial and error finding out which method works best, going to a 4mm larger pulley size and going to try that out. Also, your tire iron can be used as a pry bar to move your tensioner pulley in case of emergencies.. who knew

    April 7/12:

Finally figured out how to upload the MP4 video format to facebook from my Android. Thanks to member Haslefre. Thanks to Memario1214 for ripping it from my Fb to Youtube! :woot:

1st & 2nd Gear run test, kinda messed up shift between em a little, going to need to build a more secure mount if I'm going to be shooting any more vids.

    May 14th, 2012:

So I've known for months my CEL codes were caused by bad wiring in the connector, cause wiggling it would solve the problem for a few weeks until it jiggled loose again and threw a code. But the last 4 days leading up to the fix, I just couldn't seem to wiggle it the right way, code was being thrown ever 15 minutes. Then after I fixed it, I was suddenly getting the P0172 & P0175 & P0101 Codes. Rich mixture on both sides.

TURNS OUT: A bolt for the side of the intercooler had come out, and the hole for it was tapped clear through the intercooler wall, it was letting enough air in that my exhaust sensors were picking it up and adding more fuel, even though the MAF sensor was reading less air incoming. I found it, replaced it with a new bolt, codes gone and good as new!! back up to 22 mpg's [IMG] [IMG] Bolt below \/\/\/

Earlier this year (March 2012) I recieved the dreaded "Error 3" on my CD player one morning on route to work.

After some digging and help from 98Tacoma27 (he pointed me in the right direction) I discovered that my internal mechanism had jammed, rendering my 6-disk CD player nothing more then a sexy looking paperweight. Thank god for radio and Ipod.

I sourced a 2010 stereo head unit (non-JBL) from another member who had gone aftermarket and finally got it installed May 28th! [IMG]

    Out with the old:

    In with the 2010 Stereo:

Now the newer 2010 version has Aux hookups, I have plans for a direct Ipod jack in the making! [IMG]

I proceeded to murder my old stereo head unit to remove my trapped CD's, as I believe in never leaving a man behind. 5 could be saved, but alas, the 6th one was the crunched one that was stuck in the jam. The following destruction is my vented frustration from every electrical device that has ever wronged me.

    May 30, 2012:

Driving home on my long ass journey across the entire province (Aprox. 900km's) I hear what sounds like a gun shot and my exhaust noise triples in volume. And I get one of the dreaded Check Engine Lights.

Pulled over and read the code (Torque app again FTMFW), it's for my Exhaust sensor 2 bank 2 (drivers side rear sensor). I found the sensor dangling via the wires below my tacoma.

Turns out, the compound I used when I installed all my sensors into the DTLT's and the URD y-pipe was an anti-seize.. [IMG]

I got the correct locktit when I got back into town, and redid my sensors. shouldn't have anymore sensors shooting out [IMG]

    June 2012:

A few months ago someone decided it'd be a great thing to rip out my Radio antenna from my hood, leaving behind half the length of the screw in portion still broken off inside the hole. [IMG]

So I finally got a hold of a 1/16 drill bit and a cordless drill, drilled a slot into the antenna piece still inside the hole and used a flat head screw driver to get the old piece out. Upgraded to a sexy new black "Cravenspeed" Antenna [IMG]

I noticed I was getting a lot of sideways movement across the idler pulley next to my S/c. It was actually moving slightly off the pulley by a few millimeters then going back on. Over time this had caused a rounding of the inner edge of my pulley and damage to the belt leaving some pieces of belt rubber melted into the grooves of my slotted pulleys. I bought a new belt, new pulley, and used a flat head to clean every groove of every pulley on my engine. Also finally increased from the 76mm Idler to the new 82mm in order to add tension and remove slipage. I wanted an 80mm but they didn't have one.

Oh well, we'll see how well it works.

So I'm running the new combo (belt, pulley, cleaned pulleys) for about 24 hours and I lift the hood to check for wear and notice I've got a slight melted groove showing up on the brand new belt.

After some looking around I discover that another idler pulley on the opposite side of my engine has a fried bearing (probably from the shit and abuse I put it through) and it was overheating causing the belt to get soft. New OEM pulley was 101$

I ended up returning it because I'm going to get another plastic one to help with heat dissipation. And it'll be lighter too [IMG]

    July 20th, 2012:

    Blew another damn belt :(

    July 23:

Ordered 2 more belts and 6 Boost rated spark plugs from URD. Been running the same stock plugs since long before I was boosted, time for my 100,000 km tune up.

    July 29/2012:

About a month ago I noticed my passenger side valve cover was leaking oil. Which unfortunately is the side right below all my supercharger components. So I set aside a day to rip it apart at my leisure, all in all only took about 3 hours.

Before pic, with bypass & belt off:

It was a good thing I had to do this repair too! With the intercooler off, I found out one of the hoses had been rubbing up against the main wiring harness near the firewall. Thank god I found this out before it cause any damage. It had just finished rubbing through the covering, but not the wiring yet.

    Internals:

Found the reason it started leaking, slightly mis-shapen factory gasket. You can see the deformation near the corner if you look closely:

Everything put back together and properly torqued closed, I figured I'd inspect my throttle body for shitz n giggles:

Completely spotless at 110,000 kms. Joys of having my 7th injector spray on it. Self cleaning!! [IMG]

    Friday Aug.10/2012:

12 hour road trip, up and down hills from 1100 ft elevation to a max ceiling of 4800, I had a full day average of 22 mpg's.

    Saturday Aug.11/2012:

URD spare belts and new boost rated spark plugs arrived, and some asshat hit & run me in the middle of the night.

    Continued from post #2

    Aug.17/12
Started a huge road trip, decided I was going to track my fuel mileage throughout. I hit everything from 21.6 mpg all the way up to 25.4 mpg. For the most part I stayed around 23mpg's.

Right before the trip I changed out my spark plugs to the new Denso's gapped to aproximately .41.

    Old to new plug comparison:

Ran into Krazie_Sj a few times:

I also changed my Engine Oil, Read Diff fluid, and Manual tranny fluid the same time as my plugs. Which most likely contributed to my awesome MPG's. All said and done I drove over 5908 km's.

Awesome trip, not without damage though. Due to my previous damage where someone hit & run me last month, it made a gap between my grill & headlight, highway wind pressure caused the front colour surround to come off and explode on my windshield into plastic shrapnel. Good thing our windshields kick ass.

    Aug. 31/12:

New URD Cat-back system arrives! Installed.

Well I was underneath, I noticed a weld fault in the URD Y-pipe Flange I had installed approx. 4 months earlier.

Topped 120,000 km's! D.R.D.'s getting to be an old hag.

    Supercharger filter & fluid changed.
