    Has anyone removed the bed track system in the 2005-2008 Tacomas? I see I need a T30 to remove the 5 bolts in the track nearest the cab. Do I need to get between the bed and cab to remove these bolts?

    Also, what has everyone been using to mount things in the track system? I have seen members using bolts, washers, and nuts. Any particular size that anyone has found to work better than others?

    Rear Leaf TSB, Bilstein 5100s, extra leaf added
    I have removed my rail system. There are threads/threaded plate behind the bed, so no concern about removing the screws. I would suggest putting the screws back in after you remove the rail, so you know where they are if you ever want to re-install the rail.

    I use these nuts to mount stuff to my bed rails. They fit right into the rails

    Are these threaded plates welded or mounted to the bed? They are not going to fall off when I start unscrewing, are they?

    No, they are actually set into the bed. At least on the front anyway.

    Thanks. The front is all I worried about. I just didn't want to start unscrewing the bolts and the nuts fall out and me not be able to get my hand between the bed and cab to put them back.

    I don't remember the size but if you measure the track system, you can order the size you need.

    ya, i ordered 10, so i don't know if that had anything to do with it. they did offer to over night them for me, on my dime... still don't see what the problem was. in this day and age.
