So many subarus up there. Freaking ridiculous. Some of them mobbed hella good though. One of the cars I pulled out was an Audi Q5. So nervous. Didn't want to screw that spendy little thing up.

username, what gears where you running before?

There were definitely a good few spots I could have gotten mine stuck. I would imagine it's only gotten worse after that packed snow froze more overnight.

I like to think I know how to use the go pedal to get myself out of an impending bad situation. But you also have to know how to use your brakes - barely at all.

Some stupid bitch in a Corolla pulled out in front of me from a driveway at the base of a hill I was coming down last night. I tried to slow down by using my brakes slightly (when ABS comes on, it all goes to shit most of the time). Missed her back bumper by a half second. Laid on my horn for a good while.

I ran 3.73's with 33's, then moved up to 37's and just did the rear 4.88 to see how I liked it (and if it would hold up). Honestly it's a little low for the stuff I do, 4th gear hits the rev limiter at about 105 mph and fifth gear won't pull much past 110 in the dirt (governor disabled). Today I just made the front end match the rear so I could have 4wd again, and went with an ARB so I can get all four tires pulling if I need it. I might get used to the low gears, but with the 6 speed it sucks rowing through the gears all the time.

    I'd say that's a fair price.

0? unless you can find a guy with a bad stock radio looking for a replacement, then $5 or a six pack of beer wichever is the lesser value.

Yea, it was an ice sheet. People where way to shy with the go pedal when it would've been useful and obscenely over eager with the brakes. I couldn't believe some of the mistakes I was seeing. My buddy took his old subbie up with me and didn't have any problems. Not enough snow that the vehicle matters a whole lot, mostly driver skills.

Ha. Since it's my DD, I'll leave the ABS alone ;)

You need to hook up with the Canadians. There's a small group of FJers that try to be active around BC; I'm going to see what I can do about going to their Whipsaw event this summer if I can get the time off.

I was going to say, running 37's with anything less than 4.88's has to be really rough, maybe 4.56's would be more ideal for you? I only have 33's and am thinking about regearing to 4.88's at some point far in the future. 4wd is a good thing. Always bugs the heck out of me when I'm having an issue with mine. Just way to useful and gives so much peace of mind.

Hi PNWTWM's. Very new member just making an appearance in our local BS thread. My Intro is HERE.

I am about to pull the trigger on some pizza cutters (255/85/16's)

(Feel free to PM me with any input you have on this, I would appreciate it!)

Where is a good local place to get re-geared at?

I am just outside Salem, (and yes, it's snowing BTW.)
