Hid Headlights 1998 Tacoma?

I would like to purchase some brighter headlights for my 1998 Tacoma.

I would like to buy the best and easiest to install. Also, I have nothing against buying new headlight lens and/or buckets, if they it would be better.

ebay HID's are the best deal for the price, about $40 for the kit. i have the 6000k (cool blue color seen on luxury cars) 35w and there pretty bright, definitely brighter than stock.
If you want super bright ones, get the 55w. there just another $20 or $30 per kit

 

Luxury cars' bulbs are 4200K. The color you see is called color flicker, caused by the projector.

 

4300k@35w is the industry standard as is gives the most lumens (brightest). 6000k is slightly bluer and about 10% dimmer than a 4300k

grab some 35w's with projectors.

since you're not against new assemblies, retrofitting projectors into your headlights will give you the most light output while not blinding others on the road.

stick to 35w and kelvin temps under 6k

Tell me what you all think of them or send me a link to a better alternative? He wants HID, halos and leds.

Also, do these headlights have high and low beam? I read somewhere that some of these HIDs don't have both beams.

I am lost when it comes to HIDs. All I know about lights is if it quit shinning, replace the bulb.

I almost got those my self but either just the super clear housing or the blak housing like mine, I wouldn't get the projectors in my opinion plus they're not gonna have a lean line like a reall projector should

 

What projector do you suggest? I am lost when it comes to these type of lights.

 

Idk to much about projectors but if you do research doing a retrofit would be the best option, you should buy the black or chrome housing lights off eBay then order a set of hids, should be about $200 or a little more just make sure you get bi-xenon I believe.

Yes they do make bi-xenon HIDs that have a high and low beam. I have the stock housing and my low beams reach so far that I don't ever need high beams, but probably different for projectors.
Also, I'm not sure if eBay has bi-xenon but I haven't done an intensive search.

 

Bi-xenon bulbs come with a glare shield around the bulb. To create a "high" beam they use an electromagnet to shift the bulb upwards, shining light outside the glare shield; throwing it farther and higher than in the low beam position

Im running bi-xenons in mine.


OP, those should be find but note that you will have to do more wiring to get the halo/halogen high beams included.

Also, you may want to add silicone to the seals. cheaper headlight assemblies tend to let water in.




the "best" alternative would be to go to theretrofitsource.com and buy a set of projectors, then retrofit the housings that you have now.

 

Retrofit projectors are "real" projectors. All quality projectors will have that line

I've been running DDM tuning kits in all my cars for years now and they have had the best bang for my buck. Personally I'm running 8K 55w Bi-Xenon's in my tacoma right now and I think they look great and work awesome. Never have people flash me with brights and they aren't "too blue" although I would suggest to everyone to run the 6K's for better output.

 

google search HID xtra. $60 and takes 30 minutes to install. Its very simple.
