More info from another forum regarding snorkels and heavy snowfall.

 

I did see that, what throws me off is some of the Safari stuff for other trucks comes with the prefilter setup and others have the ram air style? I figure I can try it out and see how it works the mods to make it fit are pretty simple and I can switch between the two at any time.

 

Does this truck belong to anyone on this site? Home made snorkel.

For a home-made job, I think it came out looking pretty good (assuming it functions properly). I've seen some much much worse PVC snorkels, that one looks alright.

That doesn't look bad at all! Let us know how it does the first time you do some traveling in wet, heavy snow conditions.

I'm not overly concerned about regular driving through blizzard conditions. My snorkel is turned around backwards to help with that. My issue is pretty much when my truck is parked outside. If the conditions are right (lots of snow and wind) it really doesnt take much to fill the opening up. So something thats easily removalable (like a screen or bag) would work best for me.

For now, my black grocery bag covering the snorkel head does the trick but hopefully Kim comes up with something homemade that will do the trick.

 

I love being her test subject. I'll let you know how it works out and share some pics.

We had some snow here this weekend, I didnt turn the inlet backwards... Thing got filled with snow, lucky the GF had small enough hands to get it out of the tube. I know there was some discussion about snow, or at least I think it was here

 

WTF, we haven't had hardly any snow up here all winter and you're getting snow in VA?!?! It was 50 and sunny this past weekend in MA!

 

You havnt had any up there?! We thought this was a treat, we never get snow in Richmond

 

We haven't had any that stayed for more than a day. The South Shore has had some snow but Boston hasn't had any.

I used to live in Richmond, one of the winters I was there we got like 8 inches of snow. I thought it was great (being from the Northeast) but the city shut down!

 

Crazy weather here in Ontario as well. Only two major snow falls this winter so far and each of them didn't have more than a few inches at most. Don't ever remember having this mild of a winter, ever.

Is that from snow getting in through the opening and melting or is it because your hose isn`t sealed properly?

I wouldn`t even know if i had water sitting right there because my pipes are sealed with lots of rtv silicone.
