A Question about the Grille

I was looking on partsgeek.com at a Grille for my 08 that I could buy and use to do a satoshi mod on. The color they sell is called Black Mica. Does this color match Black Sand Pearl? Is it possible to buy a color matched grill without hitting up a dealership?

there are a few threads about color matched grilles here. i ordered one from parts geek and IMO they are trash and not worth the money

 

maybe buy one off of someone local to you?

 

good to know, thanks. They seem stupidly cheap in cost. I have gone through some threads, but I am getting the impression guys are having to paint them themselves, or get custom paint jobs

thanks for the link. I came across that one as well. Looks like a guy is looking at a couple hundred for a color matched grill. I suppose I was hoping to score cheaper for something I would be planning to cut-up.

 

honestly your cheapest route is to get it powdercoated locally. wayyy cheaper.

You can powdercoat plastic ?

Ya , painting and powdercoating are two different things

 

Gotchaa, but yes I just googled it. As long as it's thick plastic and can withstand the heat then yes it can be PC'd.

 

hmm interesting thought in order to powder coat you needed to electrically charge the piece you are coating

I did a search there for my specific truck(08) and they matched me to a black mica grill. My body color is black sand pearl, so this kinda left me wondering wtf? Is the grill on the 08 not perfectly matched to the body? Would this color look odd a BSP? Anyway the black mica grilles are $30 at partsgeek and a black sand pearl grille is pretty much $200 from the place that color matches. The disparity in price seems unreasonable.
