I assume a fully collapsed 12" shock is longer than a fully collapsed 8" shock, with that being said your wheel would not cycle as high without changing the position of the coil bucket correct?

stock arms? mine arent stock haha

whys that? the questions im asking are serious questions, how is it stupid besides i have no idea what im talking about when it comes to shocks
yeah.... a fully collapsed 10 is 2.3 inches longer than a 8, its 4.3 inches longer extended. thats why you need a engine cage or hoops so you can mount your shocks up higher

wait..... whats the point of going to a dual rate if you have 600/600? couldnt you jsut use 1 big ass 600 spring?
isnt the point of doing that to have like 5 inch 500 and 18 inch 700 or something along those lines?

Its fairly new setup im still gonna swap to 550 spring that I have and see how that feels but its running nice with both 600

okay gotcha, this is what one guy told me on DR....
this might be able to help some people out

here's what i went through with mine. i wanted a 10" shock so i could do dual rates, i also did 10" bypasses. If you're never going to run bypasses then its not a problem. running a 10" bypass on your truck is going to be a nightmare. i have some info on why in my build thread. I setup my engine cage so at bump the shocks are fully compressed because if i ever switch kits i can only bump so low and ill most likely get more travel from droop. anyway, the camburg kit is setup for an 8" shock so i ended up puting a spacer in the shock to limit the travel to 8" otherwise you wouldnt be able to install or remove the shock without completely unloading the springs. now i only have a shock thats 2" longer (total length) then the original 4" so the dual rate didn't really work. youre most likely going to have to run a main and a tender.I originally had 550/600 and it was way too soft. Now i have 6"x500 over 16"x700. it's a little soft. i wish i did 4"x500 over 18"x700 but it's not too bad. The main reason i chose 10" shocks because i plan on running a wider kit later on which will require a longer shock. If I planned right I shouldnt have to buy new shocks or change my engine cage.
Sorry for the novel. hope that helps

So you plan on running an Engage or custom kit in the future?

A 600 over 600 is not equal to one long 600lb spring. I don;t have time to look up the spring calculator right now, but you would end up with a softer top spring
