Quiz, what emergency equip do you carry?

If I'm heading into the bush (nearest garage is 300 km [200 miles] away) for a couple of weeks with my /76 Ford (soon to be sold to buy a Taco), in case of a breakdown I carry the following; fuel filtre, tarp to lie on while I'm trying to get at my spare while it's pissing down rain, wrench to unbolt my spare, jumper cables, knee pads to protect against rocks while crawling under my truck on my belly like a reptile, air pump in case the spare has leaked, tool box with set of sockets and other commonly used tools, spare voltage regulator, spare ignition coil, spare ignition module, a reliable jack. If the preceding doesn't fix it then I'm out of luck. And I used to carry a lot of beer (older now and can't hack too much beer).
What do you carry on your Taco if you're heading out on a similar trip?

Add duct tape and the quick dry JB weld to the list. Make sure all belts and hoses are good. fluids topped off etc.

 

I carry a 8,10,12,14mm socket and ratchet. Jumper cables. I got 57k SO I'm not too concerned. Fluids and such checked regularly.

 

A .45 Glock, 30-06 Remington, Browning skinner and lots of ammo.

 

My survival bag with all the usual hunting/camping/survival gear. Small set of sockets and hand tools. Gorilla tape. Zip ties. Oil. Hose clamps. Jumper cables. Blanket. Tarps. Straps. Chains. Hatchet. Knives. Shovel. Flashlights. water. My Kahr 9mm. 2 way radio. List goes on. lol its all always in my truck tho. Like to be prepared.

A case of beer.

 

X2 and a Master Card

 

Basic set of wrenches, sockets, etc. Good flashlight, a good back up flashlight, 44mag pistol, 44mag rifle and plenty ammo. And a 5th of Austin Nichols 101. Case of beer gets to heavy if ya have to walk.

 

pistol 450 rounds of ammo, MRE's, full set of tools, tow straps, water filtration, fire starters, knives, tent, sleeping bag, hammock, cooler, axe, gallon of water, water proofing bags, hiking pack, rope, zip ties, duct tape etc.. from what i have in my vehicle right now i could survive for 3-4 weeks, then i would have to resort to killing my own food.

 

Why is this in 2nd Gen??

I'm not the best one to ask, since I don't really go into "the bush".

So far I think the above is the best answer. Add a first aid kit, some form of communication, and someone who is expecting you to check in and knows where and when to send help when you don't.

A 76 Ford is pretty simple to field repair if needed, but it's Murphy's law that there will be something go wrong that you're not equipped to fix, so survival gear and a link to outside assistance is necessary if you are truly going into a remote area. If someone knows when to expect you and where you are at, in a worst case scenario, you just sit and eat MREs and wait to be missed. If no one will miss you, you might just panick and do something stupid. There are plenty of sad cases where this has happened.

 

very true. i do have a first aid kit by the way just forgot to mention. i also have a wetsuit(i surf) but a 3 mil wetsuit in 10 degrees will insulate you pretty damn well. doesnt breath good but in need it will keep from going hypothermic. i dont really go into the "bush" very often. alot of my travels are within a 2 hour walk to cell service. but, you never know. im sort of a survivalist so i like having things in the event i need them. plus when i go hiking i just pick and choose what i need from the truck. its all there ready to go, all i gotta do is throw a few things in the pack and i can easily go on a 2-3 day hike. is this overkill for the truck and most people who live in urban areas? yep. but its always funny when your with some buddys and they are wondering what type of plants they can eat within a 50 ft walk and u pull out your edible wildplants book and start eating something in sight!

as for mechanical issues with the truck, i dont have replacement parts or any of that matter to fix my truck. im not big into off roading but i do like going to remote places that get me out of cell phone service. so if something major to my truck happened i would be rather screwed.

Specifically for the truck? Scroogie set, deepwell socket, breaker bar and torque wrench for tires, factory jack, pliers, snatch strap, shackle and hitch. Plus a get home bag profiled in other threads.

 

Three slings, come-a-long, drop hitch, recovery strap, oil, brake fluid, bungie straps, mag light, d-ring shackle, tow strap, and a spud wrench for defense. Soon to have .45. Oh, and some tape just in case.
