I don't have one either. My 09MY truck was manufactured in June of 2008 if that makes any difference.

ditto...my 09 has the 3 leaf, but I checked against TSB leaf/shock/VSB numbers...no match! That was a relief.

So I have an update. I called toyota for the second time, after my dealership told me they would not do the tsb, and they basically told me they wouldn't do it because I have an 09. I have the leaf springs with the old part number on them and they still won't do it. The guy even told me that yes those part numbers are no good for 05-08 trucks but are just fine on 2009 trucks. I don't understand how toyota thinks they are going to get return customers with this attitude and customer service style. Now I get to try and convince my dealership to just do it. I think they will since when they had my truck they scratched some panels and the leather steering wheel and now have to order news ones of those. this is really frustrating.

thats retarded...nothing has changed suspension or otherwise that would make the exact same springs better on the 09

The bump stop design was changed for 09...maybe that is why Toyota thinks it is okay?

Find a different dealer that wants your future business. My dealer was happy to do the TSB for me. I didn't even have to bring my truck in to have them look at it. I showed up for my appointment, and they had the springs waiting. My clutch pedal was squeaking like crazy, and my dealer even went as far to replace the clevis assembly under the prior TSB that only refers to '05 and '06 models.

Have you had problems with your truck hauling things (bottomed, harsh, etc)? Do you plan to haul in the near future?

I am sure Toyota will add the 2009's to the TSB soon enough (this year). You will definitely get the work completed at that time.

Toyota probably saves more money by not putting the leaf spring on manufactured trucks and only adding it later to the people who know about the TSB (which is likely a small %).
Where they would lose money is from the people who haul but don't know about the TSB and won't buy a Taco again because it can't haul shit stock.

I have had problems with the ride loaded. I had 2 dirt bikes in the rear with two people in the cab and it was horrible. I hit the bump stop going out of my driveway.

I know they will add the 09s to the tsb sometime but i would like to be able to use my truck for what i bought it for, hauling, prior to then.

I am going to try my dealer one more time then go to another one. Luckily the Phoenix area has like 5 for me to try.

I just think it is sad that they can somehow justify this. My family has owned 6 toyotas and have never had an issue until now. I would have expected Toyota to take care o it but i guess times are changing, this poor quality and customer service is the reason everyone switched to toyota. Hopefully they get their act together soon.

I am not saying it fixes it, but the "Outline of New Features" distributed to dealers states

"The shape and strength of the rubber rear spring bumper used on the 4WD and PreRunner models have been optimized to improve riding comfort."

I am not saying it is any better...it is just what the document says.

JTech, Keep pushing Toyota. I had to go to a different dealer and finally had it done today after 3 weeks of pushing.

    I agree ^

Raise hell with the company...not the dealers. I recommend being calm cool and collected when talking with them. It's the company you have a beef with. They will not reimburse the dealer for the parts and labor if you were declined. Keep pressing the company to approve it.
Find and speak with the regional manager. Express safety as a concern. Send them a letter to back up your claim and concern. This provides them with a written and documented record of your complaint.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Hope you get it resolved soon! I also haul dirt bikes and needed the load capacity increased from stock.

what i dont understand is, if toyota pays the dealership to do the labor and they pay for the parts, why is this such a big deal?
i can only assume that because the 09 has not officially had a TSB on it for this problem the stealership wont get paid for the work. perhaps they are turning in TSB for 08 trucks and doing the work on 09?
if some of you are getting the work done without any issue on the 09 that means they either get the money from toyota for the warranty or they do it out of pocket wich i seriously doubt!

My dealer explained to me that they would only do the work if Toyota would reimburse them, which I can understand (especially in this economy). Why Toyota is approving some and declining others is beyond me.

When Toyota records the problem from the dealer, they do it using the VIN. When I gave Toyota my VIN, they knew my name, address, vehicle stats and place of purchase. It is all recorded so dealers would not be able to falsify the year.

As stated earlier, I think some regional managers are approving it and others are not. Some of us caught them on a good day!

Seems like the first three months of every year have identical rants!
First in 07, then me in 08, now all you folks in 09.
I had to wait 8 months before the TSB was updated. Be patient and persistent.

I called toyota customer service yesterday and told them about the harsh ride with a load. They gave me a claim number and said there was no TSB for the 09 yet. They said the dealer would call me in a couple of days to see if they could help. The dealer called today said to come in and they would change the springs as per the TSB. They said that toyota was adding the 09s to the TSB list. They also said everything was in stock which sounds funny if there is no problem with the suspension from the factory.

Well i picked up my truck at the dealer last night. They did the TSB and boy what a difference. The truck handles a lot better and corners way better. I told the service lady that i was dissapointed that i had to call toyota to get this done. She said that was the best way to get action. Just wanted to thank you guys for the heads up on this problem.
