Installed my snazzy new 5100's in the front. Turned out to be a MUCH bigger pain in the ass than I thought it was going to be. Definitely would have been nice to have an extra set of hands to hold/maneuver stuff. Also wouldn't have sucked to have an extra set of fingers after I smashed mine! Ran out of daylight so the rears are scheduled for tomorrow morning before the trip to town for an alignment. Was originally only planning to do the front until I saw DM's latest offer which I figured I couldn't pass up. Very impressed with the ride difference with just the fronts and looking forward to the whole deal!

I installed some leds in my center console that are turned on and off when the console lid is opened and closed.

I did this in the dark basically so I couldn't really get pics but here's what I did..
I went down to orvac and bought one foot of 3m strip leds, 5 feet of that red and black power wire, and a mini momentary push button switch (normally closed). <$20

First I removed the console and drilled a small hole ufor thewires to the leds to pass through. And drilled another hole for the switch in the back corner of the console right by the lid hinge.
Wire the switch, I put the switch about 1 foot from the end of the 5 foot power wire. Prep the short end of wire for soldering.
Not that your switch is done remove the back panel of the console and lid for easier access. you may need to counter sink the bottom of the hole so the switch sits properly and can be fastened with the nut on the other side. Install the switch in the hole.
take the short end of your wire and feed it through the hole you made where the lights will be. Tricky due to lack of room.
solder your leds to the wire now intruding into the cosole. Stick the leds to the console.
Now you can power the lights any way you want. I found a switched wire under the shifter and used a quick splice to tap into it. Ground the other wire somewhere suitable. I used the grounding point used by the power inverter. re assemble and install the console. Put yhe key in and try it out.:worthless: if people want I can take some pics and do an actual write up. I just did this from my phone and its a pain in the ass.

Spent about an hour looking online for an iPod adapter for the entune radio. I am looking for a unit that attaches to the back of the radio so that it creates another aux plug, so the ones in the front can be used for other stuff. Anyone know of any? Also does anyone have any pics of the back of the entune radio, I am trying to not take it out right now if I don't have to. thank.

I got that same TRD knob from TRD Parts Center through Amazon. It was just over $42.50 plus shipping but at the time if you signed up for an Amazon credit card they were giving a $30 discount so I ended up getting it for just over $21.00 :broccoli:

Yesterday I got my first oil change with 4530 miles on it.....since Dec3. I was going to get the full synthetic, but they said they have to charge me for the full oil change as opposed to the cost difference between standard oil and synthetic included in the 35,000 mile free maintenance. So I'll be going standard oil until that ends. I also waxed the truck with Maguires NXT 2.0 on Saturday....

I need to post more.....about a month ago added a leer top with carpet headliner....plus had them install the bedrug....I will post a photo in a little while here....

I was told numerous times that full synthetic was NOT needed. Am I (or guys I talked to) missing something?

Newer ones call for full synthetic. 4Bangers get 0w20 not sure on the V6s. Not sure what year it started. It improves MPGs & reduces wear.

Well damn. I wanted to do it just cause I knew it was better for the truck. But if my 05 doesn't need it then i guess it's overkill:notsure:

I just take care of my vehicles to great extent cause they will take care of you and run a shitload of a long time.

Decided I need to have the dealer listen to a hum tomorrow morning. It got pretty loud today. Got me stumped - 4WD doesn't change it, throttle load doesn't change it, turning doesn't change it, gear selection (or neutral) has no effect, it just hums between 35 and 45 mph.

Oh yeah, I want them to change my radio too. That hum sounds really loud when the radio turns itself off. And on. And off.

As for stuff today... a nice bath at the stall washers. The wind picked up and being 35F outside I froze my BUTT off.
