2012 Leveling question

last month i traded in my '01 prerunner which had a 3" lift and 265/75 duratracs for a 2012 4x4 with the 245/75s and i have decided i would like a little more height out of this truck or at least the front end. I dont want to go all out and lift this truck because I dont want to put 33's or anything. I was thinking of adding some 5100's to the front. Will this void any warranties? Should i go with the 5100 Ride height adjustable front shocks? Will this cause me to need new control arms or anything?

 

If you are just looking to level out your ride, you won't need new UCA's. The 5100's won't void your warranty, unless they are found to be the cause of future damage to your truck. Give DSM a call about ordering your 5100's, they have the best price!

 

I've got a front top plate spacer that will level you out, pm me if you are interested.

 

I am on their website right now and they have the 5100 Ride Height Adjustable front shocks for $172.99. Ill probably order them today if that is what i will need. I saw a thread on these earlier but i cant find it again

sorry but ill pass on the spacer. I had a spacer lift in my old yota and it sucked. Im doing it right this time since im not in college anymore and have $ to spend. I want to keep as much of the smooth ride as possible

Or you could just go with Toytec/Eibach springs. That's what I did. I use them in conjunction with 5100's set at zero but the 5100's aren't necessary for the springs.

 

Top plate spacer > coil spacer, rides like stock, doesn't preload the spring.

 

I was thinking the same thing about the spacer lift or to level my truck out. But I just got 2" leveling spacers and put them on my truck on Sunday and I cant really tell the difference in the ride quality. And it was just the look I was wanting out of it and only cost me 50 bucks

$150 for springs. No preload like 5100's or coil spacer.

 

ahh i see. i misread. i may just go with the shocks because im not saying that one day i wont put them on the rear also and lift the entire truck a little. I guess im just being picky because i dont want to ruin a brand new truck

so the 5100's will preload the springs and change the ride quality? I thought the reason why so many guys liked these was becuse they didnt change the ride and load the springs?

all im looking to do is, level the front by lifting it 1" to 2" at most so i figured the 5100's is what everyone uses, i dont want a 3" lift or anything. I want to keep the ride as close to stock as i can and do it correctly so im not changing broken parts down the road.

I just had 5100's installed on my new DCLB 2012. I had them clipped at 1.5" and the truck sits level. I paid $500 for them installed with a front end alignment included. I have the rears too and I'm installing them myself... They ran $160/pr. I'm hoping to get 275/65/17's on it now...

 

I thought the heights were .85" 1.75" or 2.5" not 1.5"???

the rear of my truck is 1.25" to 1.5" higher than the front so 1.5" would be perfect but 1.75" may be too high especially when i haul my boat or 4wheeler. I have done a lot of searching and without the TSB i see people saying the .85" is level and some say 1.75" is level...
maybe it has to do with the TRD package? i dont have the TRD, just 4x4 dbl cab, and have the 245/75 tires

 

Cab and bed length have a lot to do with the various results.

 

that make sense, with my double cab short bed and the measurements i have taken it looks like i'll be going with the .85" which would make the rear .65" higher than the front

 

Should be just right, I've found that when my truck is level (with using a level) it actually looks a little bro... A small amount of rake is perfect.

 

yup, especially since my boat makes it squat .5" to 1". Thanks fort he input, looks like ill be ordering everything tomorrow, $180 for the shocks and $200 for install. After alignment ill be around $460 total. so much for not modding the new truck

 

Just got 5100's set @1.75 put on the front with a 1'' block in the rear. I like how it turned out.
