So this evening I was at a family Bday party, my aunt has a grand Cherokee that has been nothing but problems, and a dodge caravan that recently shit the bed and is junked. The jeep has had engine replaced, tranny replaced, and still leaks oil all over the place. So they are in the market for a new rig. I didnt even say anything about toyota didnt reccomend it or even mention it. So her husband says they found another nice gran caravan yada yada. I say "Based on the shit luck you've had with Chrysler, why buy another one?" that's all I said. Well my other uncle (who drives a 97 dodge ram with a 360) pipes right up, "BC WE ARE TRYING TO HELP THE US ECONOMY BY BUYING AMERICAN NOT JAPANESE TRUCKS." what a dick! So I said well its funny you say that bc my Tacoma has more American parts than your truck, and he says where's your truck built? Who builds your engine? Japanese people. He is just an arrogant fuck, so I ignored him but couldn't help getting so mad! It's one of those times when you just want to say fuck you and be done lol. What do you guys think about that? Would you guys get mad?

I've gotten the same thing at work, but you can't fix stupid... People will argue that their Ford/Chevy/Dodge is somehow more patriotic even if you drive the new Camry, which was named as the "Most American Car"... Again.

Your uncle was certainly displaying some antiquated unionistic misplaced patriotic uber ignorance. I would have definitely hit him up with how much Chinese bullshit he has and also laughed ass at his Mexicanadian Dodge. But as has been stated, just can't fix stupid. He really should take his shit up with someone in the trade commission in DC about all the manufacturing shipped overseas and how our markets were allowed to be flooded with shit from somewhere else if he ever cared about making any sense with his attitude about the situation. I blame him for letting it get to this point. Try that out on his ass next time you see him. Tell him how you weren't around when the intestinal viewing decision making process went down to get us here and how disappointed in your elders you are for letting things happen for you to now have to choose so called "jap shit" to have something that actually has some quality and usefulness.

My best friends dad sad something similar to me just after I bought my truck. Because I didn't buy american. At the time I didn't know that Toyota was made in the USA. The next time that I see him I am going to say that to him. "My Toyota is almost as American as your GMC"! One thing I do know is that my truck will last a hell lot longer then his truck lol.
I honestly don't care where my vehicle is made. I don't think that it really makes that much of a difference in quality. My Taco could be made in the darkest spot of North Korea and I'd still buy it.

hell Even if it was made in japan I would still buy it. There a hard working culture and build quality products. I love every quad and dirt bike iv'e had, Yamaha and Honda and there some of the strongest fastest machinery I've used. Don't even get me started about my pickup, Iv'e jumped that think, hit numerous trees and it still runs great.

I think its that stigma if it has an american logo its All balls out, beer drinken, skoul chewen, shot gun shooten, country listening, american blood and sweat quality. It is funny there so blind there going to support Canada and mexico when they could support toyota Made in america. Hell i even think the tundra was named the truck of texas.

Ask them where their truck was built. Funny my "Jap" truck was built in Texas-last time I checked that would be USA.

unless everything they own, from their computers, all electronics, all clothing, all utensils, even toiletries are made in America, they're just being hypocrites and fools.

    and this. again.

The only thing is that when Toyota supports Canada, it helps the US too. Same with trading oil, lumber, electricity etc. I'm out to support both economies because Canada and the US economies are so closely tied. I would buy things more if they were made in North American then in China. But our world is changing and that's the way things are going to be, don't really have a choice. It's more about supporting someone else's economy(China) then North America. But when you have a company and you can move it and pay 1/3 less the cost then keeping it in North America, what makes more money sense? But in this world now, it's money that makes the world go around.

My Jap truck was built in California, I think. I know it was the USA. People see Brands and don't think beyond that. The clothes your Uncle has on came from overseas or Mexico. Same deal with Harley's. Great American brand. Most of the parts that go into 'em came from overseas. They are built here though so I'll give 'em that. We live in a global economy now and people need to realize it.

When the tsunami hit Japan....do you know who was the first car/truck manufacturer in the North America who had to stop production because they ran out of parts?

    Anyone?

Ill check back later and see who has it right.
