Might add it's unadvisable to hook any straps or cables or chains to the tow ball. They've broken off and killed people before.

i really need to get a new rear bumper. stock tacoma has no rear tow points. ive managed so far but its getting old. i put on a tow ball because its better than nothing. i wouldnt use it for hard pulls. i realize its unsafe.

True, but no other options. The tow driver went swimming looking for a place to hook on, but it was buried pretty deep by that point. When he got it far enough out of the mud he hooked onto something down by a rear wheel- axle maybe? I didn't actually see what he put the cable around, but... it worked out, anyway.

I didn't take it negatively, just explaining the situation better. :)

How about some entertaining 5 lug stuckage?

Story: Another member and I, Kmok (Kyle) went looking for something to do. Found this to try and run through. I, obviously, got stuck on the original way through. Somehow I hit my brakes rather than the gas, believe me, braking was not my intent. She bogged down and wouldn't move. A little hook-up and yank from Kyle and I was free. I took a shot of the LR wheel, the one that was buried, but it never processed the pic in the camera.

I did make it back through that slop going the other way though!

This pic is from a meet @ MaxTacoma's place. First time I'd really ever tried to do anything "offroad" with my truck. Truck and I were both offroad virgin's so it all ended in failure. I tried to run it a couple times and kept getting stuck/caught in the same spot. Parked at the bottom of the hill and rode in another truck.

Incorrect. Since you have the tow package, use the hitch pin or buy one of these. You could also remove the ball and stick a d shackle through there.

I used to like mud. It's still a little fun, but it's very annoying when your tires stick out a little bit, and spinning your tires in one puddle completely block vision on one side of the truck.
