I had the exact same problem with mine. Bought new. Dealer said i must have removed it to install lift kit. Toyota canada agreed with them. I said f that and ended up buying full all pro skid lates anyways. I had the brackets on there and everything.
Not to mention they forgot to install the enginr cover back on the truck at delivery (they put a block heater in). Again they denied it but got me one since i noticed that two days after i picked it up. Local dealer gets no referrals from me. Someone is stealing parts there.

The factory skid is pretty useless anyways. Mine got torn right off when I backed over a tree stump.

Got one for sale if you want it. 20$ plus shipping, which is probably expensive cause it's kinda bulky. It's only the front one though, not the bottom one. Hopefully the dealer will give you one for free.

Eric makes nice skids though, that's my truck above. Can't wait to get the t-case skid.

Which package do you have? According to the 2012 Toyota Tacoma brochure I'm looking at, only the TRD Off-Road package includes the engine skid plate. In other words, the SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Sport Upgrade packages don't.

He apparently bought his 09 used, so I don't think a dealer is going to give him something they didn't get. Used is as is. If you need one, buy one as other posters have suggested.

I love my skid plate that sort of hooks out from under the truck and covers the bottom couple inches of the bumper.

Not sure if its factory but it sure as hell saved my bumper from a 2ft tall parking pole I didn't see the other night!

Is this a factory one? Don't see them on other tacos around here.
