I released all of the fish that I caught. Not only on my 2 day fishing excursion this weekend, but I have released all the bass I caught in the past 9 years. 9 years ago I did a fish fry. We are going to do another fish fry this year sometime so I will be keeping everything we catch for food.

 

Can any of the fisherman in the Fl site help me figure some of the fish I saw in the ponds this weekend? I saw nothing but bass and some alligator gar, those I know........ didnt see many bream or blue gill. But I did see what looked like huge sucker fish, and what looked like some sort of fresh water drum? I am not sure on the sucker fish or the drum. Any help with names so I can google them?? Thanks in advance.

 

Ummmm here are a few native species that can be caught at any given time...
Bass
Bream (many species)
Speckle Perch
Warmouth
Catfish
Mudfish

Depending on the waterway you may get into some brackish areas which would be more of your Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Snook, Sheepshead, and many many types of trashfish

 

probably a large pleco (plecostomus)



They are a large ornamental fish from S. America

 

Looked kind of like that pleco, cant tell in the water though.

 

I googled it, kind of looks like that pleco. I am not sure about the other fish though. They were spooked very easily and they had a huge,deep nest. I am sure the water is brackish but they were 2 small ponds not really close to any tributaries of the ocean. There were canal nearby to the ponds so maybe. I am not sure.

 

Could be a Pleco that someone discarded from a fish tank or possibly a freshwater cat...they look like sucker fishes.

 

I know here in blue springs and in the st. johns there are huge pleco's everywhere.

I dont know about your other mystery fish

 

I will go with the pleco, there were about 5 or 6 in one of the corners of the pond. It was definitely not a freshwater catfish. I am thinking more and more that the other fish was some kind of freshwater drum.

Also a real killer of small bass and specks. If you catch them please kill it. To much presser on our game fish without this thing in the waterways... Jim

very nice, if u don't mind me asking how much was shipping on those things, cause i've read that some people have shipped step bars for like 40-50 when i was trying to sell my tonneau cover, some quotes were like 70-80

That thing is f'ing nasty...I hate those fockers. I wouldn't eat it or piss on it if it caught fire.

 

I actually get a good deal on shipping cause i do it right here from work, i shipped them for $28.00, and i never mark up shipping. I have no idea how much it would be through an actual fed ex or ups store. When i sold my old overhead compass, ups wanted over $40 to ship i did it through here for $12.

$28, if people knew it costed that little to ship, it prob would have been sold before that, and for more $$, i woulda thought shipping anything like that would be like another 100

 

it already cost 87 to ship those knuckles up to canada, of course that's canada though, they get screwd on everything
