Today I tried to do the Fog Lights Anytime, but I ran out of time and just left out the fuse and did not reattach the "green" wire. Then I noticed my tail lights might be out, but they weren't. So I put the fuse back in and reconnected the circuit and the fogs worked again. However, later today I ended up on the side of the road with a dead truck. The radio went out first then the speedometer went to 0. Eventually, it didn't start and the lights worked for only short periods of time.

I think the alternator might be broken or the battery is not recharging. Could this be because of a problem with the fuse box?

Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

    Yes.
I have never had issues with mine. Photo of what you did would be helpful.

Its in the shop right now, but all I did was splice the green wire back together and it worked again.

There is multiple ways to do the mod. Where'd you get the write-up to do it?

Don't cut the green wire. Tap "into" it. The wire has to be connected other wise it bypass the charging system and doesnt send a charge to your battery. I had the same problem. Just re-connect the green wire

Yeah the 2012's are different but I think the links posted should work. I would redo it and you should be all set.

You most likely burned a cell in your battery too. I had to change mine

yeah, similar thing happened to me yesterday, but the truck didn't die......just lost the speedo, compass, outside temp, power windows, temp and fan (cabin), had the lights on for parking brake, traction control, and abs.......I looked back at the foglights anytime mod for 2nd gen 05-11 and someone had the same issue.
all it was was a 10A fuse for ign2 that had blown....guessing that the fuse is linked to a relay to give power to all those things....it's fixed now.

    Good luck with yours OP

Like others said, don't cut the green wire, splice/tap into it. People really need to learn the difference between cut and splice before trying electrical mods.

Yeah. A lot of these mods only work if you splice (tap) into a wire, and things break if you cut. While others actually require cutting a wire. Some mods require both, and doing the wrong order really f's things up.
