one thing that is nice is the parts are cheap. Ill spend more on a slide hammer to do the damn job.

Nah, axle is the biggest cost. Slide hammer can be rented for free.

Dropped truck off today. Had conversations with service advisor and mechanic who both seem favourable to getting it done under warranty. Will know soon enough and post the dealership for others if in the area to go for service.

Looks like I'll be doing this soon :(

My truck has developed the vibe in the last couple months (@ around 103k miles now) and it goes away when I put it in 4wd.

Just realized I never updated on how my visit went. DENIED. They said it was the tires making the noise. Ridiculous.

So is this the same issue as the large hole in the cast carrier spider gear opening? The one an ARB fixes? The one that East Coast gear is testing the bronze bushing in the carrier to reduce axle slop?

That's almost as bad as what the tech at my dealership said: he told me to just drive around in 4wd all the time. :boom:

No, this is the needle bearing where the CV axle goes into the differential on the driver's side.

Yeah that's the one. THey are doing a PTFE bushing to replace the needle bearing like the ARB uses a bronze bushing as part of their carrier/parts assempbly which fixes this. Its the slop in the carrier hole fo rthe spider gear that cuases the needle bearing to fail.

Tech said he feels vibrations no matter what speed. It was the same tech they sent me with to test the blower motor. He couldnt hear it chirping. He admitted he had pretty bad hearing damage. Winners...

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
Any update from East Coast Gear? Any one care to guess what the labor would be to install? I am afraid this repair is past my skill set....
