Truck stuttering...help!

So my truck has been stuttering and i changed the TPS sensor because a code came up for that and the ride was fine. but then it came back and checked my spark plugs and i guess i have the wrong the plugs in. but now one of the wires that connects to the spark plugs is burnt but still runs.. could that be why its still stuterring??

plus idk haow to change that wire... if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

 

Ya it's probably arcing to the block. .
How exactly does it "stutter"-upon a load..at a certain RPM...all the time...etc? To check for arcing run the engine hood up and listen for a 'tick' in time with the miss-if the tick is coming from that burnt wire area there ya go.

You don't want the plug wires touching anything HOT; thats for sure.

 

could that be why its stuttering?
what kind of tool can i use to take out the spark plug? because the wire ripped and its stuck to the spark plug.

 

A burn through is a sure sign of a failed wire and misfire. Replace ALL of the plug wires.

 

If the boot is still on the plug, a long pair of needlenose pliars will be needed to remove the boot.

 

Get a pair of needle nose pliers and get the boot/wire piece off of the plug. Then standard plug socket with ratchet to take the plug out.

Not sure what "plug wrong" means, but probably fouled if the spark on the wire has been arcing to ground on the engine. This would cause the truck to run rough as that cylinder would now be firing correctly.

 

i have similar ones to these and they said i need ones that have two curves instead of one if that makes any sense.

Misfires have the capacity to break things, if severe enough.

They do make spark plug boot pliars. They have a boot shaped tool end.

 

Get the factory Denso plugs for it. They have the correct ends you need and work well.

Wires wise replace your wires and be sure to run them as per factory and away from heat sources. When removing wires never pull on the wire itself to remove. This will often cause wires to come apart. Remove the wires by the boot. I like to give them a little twist to ensure they are loose before removing.

 

Finally found the link again. Been searching for it for another poster with a misfire.

Here is the link for the ignition system. Shows you how to route the wires and how to remove the plug wires from the plugs. I believe it also gives you the plug number you need I'd have to look again.

Use Dielectric grease on the inside of the boot. It helps seal out water and dirt. It also makes them easier to remove. Just a pea-sized amount.

 

OP- Did you get your plugs and wires replaced? Cure the issue?

 

I replaced the spark plugs but they gave me the wrong ones and I've never replaced the wires.

 

So ive replace the spark plugs with the correct ones and changed all the spark plug wires but its still stuttering.
feels like my rpms drop and then raise again making my truck to want to turn off. it also jolts my engine and it feels really bad.

any ideas of what it can be now?

 

Spray a water mist on the coil and look for arcs(in the dark). If no arcs. Start looking at fuel injectors. Have you Seafoamed lately?

 

Is your truck throwing any codes?

It sounds like one of the three spark plug power modules (that your spark plugs plug into). My buddy's 2.7L had one of those go bad and it did the same exact thing.

On the 3.4 they are located on the passenger side of the engine and the spark plug wires from the driver's side plug into them if I recall correctly. I would go look, but my truck is still at the body shop.

 

Is this another way of saying "ignition coil"?
