hello everyone, I am new to the Tacoma community, I just recently bought myself an 07 Tacoma PreRunner SR5, I haven't done more than change the yet but i look forward to new upgrades! but i want to take the time and get whats right for my truck i previously did research on this site actually and found out that the original toyota oil filter was my best bet for the oil filter and i noticed a lot of people recommend mobil 1 for the oil. sweet deal but i was wondering if there was any specific rear differential fluid i could use? i am up for a change and wanted to check my options first!

First thing to check is if there's an LSD sticker on the diff itself

Toyota specifies 3qts. 75/90w gear oil. as stated above, if there is a sticker near the drain plug that mentions to use a LSD additive then you must use that additive. the additive comes in a small bottle and should be around 5 bucks on average.

drain and refilling the rear diff fluid is very easy to do. you will need the following..

    brake/parts clean spray can
    shop towel/rag
    drain bucket
    24mm socket
    ratchet
    3qts. 75/90w gear oil
    LSD additive if applicable

here is a cool easy to follow "how to" on the correct procedure to drain and refill the rear diff..http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/24545-changing-differential-fluid-step-step-how.html
