My Cobra 29 LTD Chrome Mounting Solution

    So i got a Cobra 29 LTD Chrome last week and realized there is ABSOLUTELY no where to mount this thing without it being in the way, its too large!

    Solution:

    Use Cat-5 wire and extend the face plate from the box about 5'. Took around 150 total separate solders (NEVER want to solder again after that mess!) Followed the work done by DB. (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/49635-cb-radio-cobra-29-mod-mount-center-console.html)

    Then Cut out the space needed to slide the face plate into the center storage area just south of the AC controls.

    After that I was able to test fit it into the location I am going to secure it to tomorrow! So stoked on how it looks and how well its going to come out!

    I am going to attach the CB functional end with some sheet metal that is fastened to the center console area. And then I am going to count out some sheet metal to cover the top of the functional end so none of the wires get ruined or anything like that...

    I will definitely post some pictures of it done...
    ...And if people want a write-up on it, Ill do that as well!!!

    ALL DONE! took most of the day because I wanted it to come out right! I was planning on putting a small lid on top of it to keep the wires and everything clean but couldnt figure out how to mount it!

    Here are some pictures of the final product, Let me know if anyone wants a DIY/Write-up on this. Took a ton of pictures so I could if there is any interest.

    Looks good :thumbsup: Did you mont a mic hanger anywhere? Mine just flops around in my cup holder or it's on my lap when I'm jabber jawwin' I've yet to find a good spot to put a mount.

    No I havent mounted it yet, was thinking of just mounting it to the left of the shifter on the side of that panel. Either that or Ill just leave it in my glove box when im not using it and toss it in the cup holder when I am. let me know if you find a good spot to mount man.

    And to be honest I wasnt sure if I could handle the soldering either, considering it was only the 3rd time I have ever soldered haha. But grabbed some beer and sat down and got it done and it works so I couldnt have asked for more! really wasnt that bad just have to keep it all organized as best as possible and it will work out

    Got the 4' Firestik II hooked up today! gonna clean up all the wirin tomorrow morning and then off to tuning! tried it out real fast tn and did a short little tuning job and it worked beautifully! cannot be happier tonight! gonna have some brew and take it easy now!
