Are you driving across to Seattle; and then barging your truck and flying up? Just curious.

Awesome scenery from the ferry...as long as the weather cooperates. Food is expensive in the on board restaurant/cafeteria...and not all that good for what it costs. We did a round trip (Haines to Bellingham--and then reverse back to AK in Summer 2002). Ate in the restaurants on board on the way down. Had sandwiches and such on the way back...packed a cooler to keep in cabin. Had soups, there was access to a microwave by the cafeteria. Just a little info FWIW! Enjoy the trip!

Id still like to do the ferry trip one time someday. I've always wanted to see the south east pan handle. Granted, I suppose if I've seen WA/southern BC then I've seen SE AK, but it's still be cool to check out. It's just so damn spendy and takes forever. Why spend 5 days on a fancy barge, when I can drive the Al-Can in 3 days? Oh.... Ya.... That DUI thing. Paying for my youth I guess. Ugh.

I finally have found time to post again. Made the trip up here end of Jan beginning of Feb. I'm so glad to finally be here. I will have to find my pics of the journey and get them posted. It won't be as good as jeverich's thread though.

    Hello fellow Alaskans!
Looks like this thread has been inactive for a few months. I'm guessing since all the record snow has melted, everyone is too busy enjoying the great Alaskan outdoors. I was just wondering if there is a TW Alaskan group meet in the works? I've only been here a little less than three months and already gone clamming in Ninilchik, it was awesome. I can't believe I didn't move to Alaska sooner. I'm loving it.

I would really like to do another Alcan drive sometime in November. Not too sure if I can make it happen with the fishing schedule, though.

Am thinking about putting the truck on the ferry for the way down, then drive back home. Would like to do it as quickly as I can, minimizing food expenses and hotels. I said as quickly as I can...16 Hours of driving/day is about my maximum.

Would be sweet to get another Tacoma to join me on the trip.

    Think TacomaWorld Alaska Expedition!
