Since you guys are on the topic of tires, what do you think about putting 255/85R16's on a taco? I have the stock size 265/70R16's right now and am debating between 255's or 275's. I figure i will probably get better mileage with the narrower tire and have to do less cutting to make them fit.

Not sure. I bought the taco like this a few months ago. I'd guess 2.5-3 in the rear and less in the front because the stock springs are sagging some plus its only set at .85. I'm hoping to get some toytec/eibach springs soon to level it out.

I would say you need 3'' min to run that tall of a tire

    same shit as everyone else
That's only a little larger then a 31' and will fit without any lift.

from the online tire size calculator

The thing is you only need about 1.5 inches of lift with a 33' if you cut back your fenders and shave some metal off your cab mounts.

I see thanks. Guess that means I'm getting 265/75's. Too bad they don't make a 255/80.

    255/85s..Needs a lift

    265/75s don't.

My dad is running 265/75s and they don't rub on the UCA. He is on stock rims. He does have lift tho, but they wouldn't rub even if he didn't.

Now you have me rethinking the 255's. Haha. With the new eibach springs the front end should sit higher. My 265/70's rubbed on the mud flaps while turning. But i can just take them off and fold over the pinch weld if necessary. Think i wiuld have to do a cab mount chop also? I can trim up the front as well, but i'm hoping to get a cbi bumper at some point. That would solve front rubbing.
