There are many options and LOTS of pictures available, if you spend some time browsing/searching the forums. Recommend you begin by reviewing the Tacoma Lift FAQ/Guide and Suspension Lift Info stickies.

FWIW, many of us are quite happy with combos that include Bilstein or shocks, or Eibach coil springs, and or leaf springs.

In the end, your choice will/should depend on your specific NEEDS (e.g., Are you lifting for function or aesthetics only?) and your BUDGET (i.e., Do you have a few hundred or a few thousand dollars to spend?).

This is with Old man emu nitro chargers and 881's up front and nitro chargers and a wheelers AAL in the rear. Nice firm ride, and about 2" of lift. could fit a larger tire on there if i needed to.

There is a ton of info on this. Everyone will tell you that their set up is the best, when the majority of them are about equal.

Check out Wheelers and Toytech. The only thing i can say is that the adjustable billies on stock coils seem to be the least expensive while achieving a decent lift, but in the long run its not the best idea. I had them on back order and changed the whole plan last minute.

hey thanks Facemob for the info and nice set up. I new to this, thats what i want on the 2003 tacoma 4x4 about 2-3 inch lift. Would coilovers be best and was thinking of old man emu 7 leaf springs in rear. Is this good? Can someone please reply and post pics. thanks

contact wheelers offroad if your serious. they have a great customer service team. a coilover is the combo of the strut and coil spring, in my case an OME nitrocharger with an ome 881 coil spring. Like i said, if you are committed to making a purchase, call wheelers and they will guide you.

Take a look at my build. It's the full OME kit with Dakaar leafs in the rear. The ride is great and I'm now running 305's. Like everyone says there are several options and just depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend.

to look at his build, click on the hyperlink that says "mtnative's build" directly under his post, above his signature. Most guys with a build page have a link in that location.

hey guys thanks for your opinions on choosing my lift and after searching on tw im going with the bilstein 5100 front with stock coils and aal in the rear. My friend was suggesting that i should go with a top plate spacer in the front. Has anyone had any problems with the 5100 with stock coils set at 2.5". I really want the 5100's and currently have bilstein 4600's. What do you think and thanks for looking im glad i joined tw.

not trying to push you in a differnt direction.... i would upgrade the coils while your at it. if your hell-bent on the bilsteins, a lot of guys recomend the eibach coils. if you use the stock coils with the billys set at anything other than zero, basically all your doing is preloading the coil so it doesn't compress as much from the weight of the truck thus "lifting the truck" but sacrificing ride quality and coil performance. with a larger or non stock coil, there is no preload so you still get the full function of the coil itself.

I may not be 100% accurate about this, but this is what i came away from the whole thing with when i was researching the topic ..... anyone care to chime in?

I guess what im trying to say is that the theory of "lifting" the truck actually means having the suspension not sag as much when the weight of the truck is applied to the springs..... in a sense (though most "lift systems" are a bit larger than stock, helping the "lift") .

so if you are compressing the stock coil (billies set above zero, and stock coils), the coil wont give as much when the weight of the truck is applied, thus achieving "lift", but in reality the coil is already under "load" so it wont perform as intended.

thats so true i have been thinking that down the road (future) ill have problems with the 5100's and the stock coil set up. Thanks for the info.
