Anyone know which would be the best kit for retro fit on a first gen?
I'm look for it to be pretty much bolt in, I don't really wanna cut my housings cause they're nice aftermarket ones, I want to run a 55watt setup but 35 is fine with me... Any info is appreciated thanks !

Morimoto mini h1 or ds2 from theretrofitsource.com. No cutting just have to sepperate the lens from the headlight housing and bolt them in.

Is the light out put pretty good on them ? And can I use a 55 watt ballast and bulb?
Anyone have pics? Either first or second gen just to get an idea of how the light output is and how they look

They are super common around here because of their awesome output and super easy install. The H1s and DS2s are both bi-xenon so they have low & high beams. There are lots of install guides floating around TW like this: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...00-retrofit-walkthrough-morimoto-mini-h1.html
No need for 55w, 35w is what all OEM HIDs use and its more than enough light. Just keep the temperature 4300-6000k so you dont lose lumens to color.

55w no bueno in the Morimotos. Stick with 35w and everyone says the H1 has the best output. I am happy with my D2s ones.

I have the h1s and love them but I dont think either would disappoint. Matt from TRS has mentioned a few times that he prefers the DS2s. Guess its a preference thing.

What's the reall difference between the h1s and the ds2 projectors?
From the pics the ds2s look like a little brighter but the h1s have a nice clean line

**On another note, those two pics are from different vehicles, installed by different guys. So it isnt exactly 100% accurate for a direct comparison.

I have the mini H1's and I love them. Check out my thread for some pictures of them installed. I have a couple pictures of the low beam output.

Hands down mini h1 is better. Trs has made huge improvements since the h1's were first introduced. Mini d2s's not so much. I've done plenty h1's and have mini d2s's now...but not for long.

Man, I REALLY want to do a retrofit...so bad haha. I have no need for them in the summer up here, so I'll have to wait till fall. Do people usually just buy a new set of headlight assemblys to do the retrofit in?

I didn't, used what I had. Good thing about the minis is they are easy to remove and reinstall if you buy new housings in the future.

I want the halos on the projectors :/ but from what I'm hearing from y'all I'll purchase the h1's and they're cheaper so I'm not gonna complain with that !

You can add halos to the mini h1s.
