I want to put subs in the truck but don't have a lot of money and don't want to take up any room in the small 1st gen AC soooooo

I got to thinking what if I bought some high quality speakers, and mod'ed or fabed up something to replace the lid to the jack storage under the rear seat that had the speaker attached? wouldn't it be like a sub box?

you could leave the seat part flipped up when no one was riding in the back if you cranked the base on it wouldn't it act like a sub?

would I need an amp? I have experience working with speakers but not 12V car systems other then changing head units.
