    Searched but really only find 5100 info. Not lifting the truck and just want replacement bilsteins that came stock on my 01. Which ones do I need? kinda seems like a waste to buy the 5100's if I'm setting them at 0

    The stockers ride great as is so I'm not looking for a better ride. I'm totally happy with the bilsteins that came on the truck.

    But 5100's will ride better and when bought as a pair they are cheaper than the stock Yellow/Blue ones :confused:
    Seems like the decision should already be made.

    I have a set of bilstein HD's on the front of my truck, and they are VERY stiff. Very rough on the road.

    Plus they are painted vs the zinc coating of the 5100's. The paint on the yellows will flake off and they will rust. Mine did.

    Just get the 5100's dude. They are a better strut...no brainer

    anybody have any experience with skyjacker nitro shocks on tacomas? i had them on a 2dr tahoe and it rode really well. my tacoma is a little spongy feeling and feel a new set of shocks may be in order.

    Yes, they are adjustable to whatever height you want allthough larger coil springs can be bought for added lift and spring rate for heavy offroad bumpers,winches,skids etc.

    Not sure exactly what you plan to replace (front vs backs) but, with no lift installed, you'll want to look at 5125s for the rear. (See http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/155232-5100s-vs-5125s-2.html#post3128139 and http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/155232-5100s-vs-5125s-3.html#post3128402 for details.) As has been pointed out by others, many of us prefer the valving/ride the 5100 provides, even at stock height.

    5100s permit pre-loading the front coils, achieving lift. They do nothing to lift the rear, though. This video provides a good explanation. (Note that 1st Gen 5100s offer different lift options than the 2nd Gen shocks shown.)

    ^^ Why would you want 5125's for the rear if your not lifting it? 5100's are for stock ride height and 5125's and 50's are for lifted applications.

    Not true, according to the experts at DSM. Please see the links I posted previously, that confirm "The 5100 rear shocks (#D559 & D560) were just a little too long on the collapsed length, for a stock height truck. So we tried the 5125s in 8" & 8.6" on our own Tacoma, and found that worked better for a truck with no rear lift."
