true. they are limited by design to keep you from blowing them too quickly. . . or atleast before you drive 60,000 miles haha.

Yeah, my stock sys was entirely too quiet as well. With an MP3 player plugged in, I had to crank it to full volume on the highway and even then couldn't hear it worth a damn--and that was with the stock Dunlop baloney skins. I did find in the owner's manual that it has a crappy sound limiter feature which came defaulted to high. I don't remember how to change it (I think it might have been following the bass/treble/etc settings), but just look in the OM for 'ASL' or 'Automatic Sound Limitizer' if memory serves correctly. I ditched it for a new Sony HU and it sounds great even with the stock speakers.

I have a 2012 and that is probably my biggest complaint. I also have it up high with the windows closed and full blast with windows open just to hear it

Sorry, didn't remember what all effect it had, just that it was there. IIRC it has something to do with limiting the volume according to speed. Just another unneeded feature.

I have the 2011 and with my iPhone plugged in, it is damn quiet. I turn up iTunes all the way and turn up the stereo and it is just hitting adequate... and I don't like my music all that loud.

I will see if I can find the ASL.

im speaking the truth here people. go to itunes-

    highlight all your music
    get info
    options
    slide volume adjustment to +100%

    problem solved

edit: also fella, on you iphone there should be a setting in "settings" where you can turn up the ipod output. not real sure about iphones, but it's there on regular ipods.

The 2012 JBL Navi unit is loud as hell. If I have a really good dupstep tune I can turn it up 40 for a tune or two. Not sure what the max is I have only had up to 40 on the volume. Then I have to turn it down so I don't blast my ears out.

A lot depends on what you are using as a source. Is it an mp3 player? If so you have to have the player at max volume.

My stock stereo which I only use to listen to FM is plenty loud. I've never had it up over 50 and sometimes I jam the thing. It's got to be over 100 db in the cab. It's f'n loud.

it’s bad. when you have dubstep going. bass set to 5 and all on a CD. and you have it on 58(it goes to 62) and they don’t do anything, even with all 4 windows down.

My issue isn't volume level, it is lack of tonal balance. All non-tonal bass and no mids or highs makes driver an unhappy camper.

I have to agree with most on here...my only complaint about my 2012 is the stereo. I just have the basic stereo, no JBL. I like the satelitte radio, so I usually listen to it, and if im listening to old school rap i have to have it about 3/4 of the way up.

This morning I popped in a Waylon CD (i like a broad range of music), and I couldnt hear it hardly at all until I was over 50, with the windows up.

I am a little hard of hearing from years of working around heavy equipment and pile driving, and I dont like my music all that loud, but come on...

I hate to say it, but thats the one thing Nissan got right, esp in the 09 maxima!

This works! I've also done it.
