I couldn't find a thread if there is one, on how to remove and black out the body badges. Is there such a beast, or does someone sell blacked out badges? Still learning the in's and outs of the forum, but I think the black badging would look sick on the Lunar Mist body:p

Thanks man, I think I might go the derp route, I pulled badges off a few other cars and it is a PITA, but the end result might be worth it.

I have a full set of 2nd gen badges that we're painted black. They could use a respect but they're in pretty decent shape. I'd sell them to you if you're interessted

In the detailing forum, there's a stickied thread (very long) with many members giving their experiences on how to remove, and often, blacken their badges.

    Lots of good info there

FWIW, I used plastidip for my badges this past fall and they are starting to oxidize...I don't know why exactly, but they are turning white on the top parts of the badge....I'm going to use actual paint sometime this summer.

I want to, but I'm afraid of the shadows they will leave on the 10 year old paint ;)

I have a sunfire red pearl as well and debadged after 11 years and after a good wash, clay bar and wax you don't see any shadowing.

If you are about 3" away from the rear 1/4 glass on the driver's side, you can see a incredibly faint "SR5" But I am the only one who ever sees it

I don't know man, we did my buddy's 08 sierra and that thing was terrible even after clay barring it. His was black though, so I bet that made a difference. I took all mine off about a year after having my truck and I'm glad I did.

Haha well I guess all the dents and scratches from the PO will distract anybody from noticing the shadows. I'll think about it this summer. I am liking the red/black combo at the moment.

so i blacked out all mine out except the tailgate ones. i couldn't get them off without tearing them since they are a soft plastic so to speak.

how have any of you blacked the tailgate ones out? i'm thinking of just taping & newspapering around them and paint while still on truck. good idea or bad?

You'll have a heck of a time taping it I think. I did the emblem on my engine cover that way and it took forever to tape and then turned out less than perfect.

i also taped and newspapered around emblem and i thought it was quite easy, that's why i was considering it for the tailgate
