UTAH (and Surrounding Areas) BS Thread

i think they are 4.5? can't remember. had the wheels a year and a half now.

 

Hmmm...usually 4.5" BS is the right ones to get cause then you normally dont need spacers to get them away from the UCA's. Are you positive they are 4.5"?

 

anyway to check on the wheel? i can't find the paperwork from when i got them. i'm 99% sure b/c i remember talking to the shop when i ordered them. my old tires had much better clearance from the arms

 

Not sure if it would say on the wheels or not? Just that everyone I know that run 4.5" wheels with 285's they dont really have any UCA rubbing issues. How wide are your wheels?

 

I'm betting those are 4.5" BS wheels (same as factory) ViperJay had put some 285's on his factory Sport wheels last year before Moab and I think he had some rubbing when the suspension was flexed / jumped lol.




Have you flexed the front suspension to see if you have any rubbing when you turn your wheel? I have 4.00" BS wheels with 285's and I've had to do a lot of trimming, cutting and hammering to eliminate all of my rubbing.

i've played with them a little. at full turn they touch the lower arms and the UCA's. it is more pronounced over the 265's. if i hit it i just back off a little. it's a pretty sharp turn to hit. the only thing i feel i need to trim is the front. just drummel off the little section it is contacting. i'm headed out to the shooting range in a few minutes so i'll get to flex the front and check for contact on the dirt road/ditch out there.
i was just curious if spacers would give me more clearance without adding a bunch of trimming.
wheels are 7 or 7.5" i think.

 

I'm pretty sure because that was my preferece when looking at aftermarket wheels. I could be wrong, I'll have to do some searching...

 

Jealous! What range are you going to? Parleys?

 

Stock is 5.5" so you need to get 4.5 to help avoid rubbing with 285's. Still most likely gonna have to trim with 4.5 though

 

Thats what I figured cause I know everyone says 4.5" BS if you get aftermarket wheels. I have 4.5" BS with a -12mm offset.

 

Richardson flats in Park City. basically a dump site everyone uses as a range.


i played a little while i was out there. no uca rub when flexing.

i think i'll just trim the front and give them a little time to break in and see what happens. in order to hit the uca i have to turn enough that i also hit the lower arm.

Yeah, the wife's... Driving home from Daniel's Summit (by Strawberry Reservoir) Mother's Day brunch. Long drive, all you can eat prime rib buffet, hot day, family all asleep with no radio on or windows down... I fell asleep in Provo Canyon right by Vivian Park, hit the guard rail. I was lucky though, it was the LAST piece of rail, any further i would have went into oncoming traffic. Nobody hurt, about $4300 in damage including the 2 brand new rugged trails that had the sidewalls torn out. So lucky. Thr front wheel was destroyed but luckily the rear was usable. Put my spare on and took the good wheel to American Fork to my dad's house where I had another tire luckily, had to use his harbor freight tire changer to put the tire on the good wheel. got it all put together and the tire had a hole, had to plug it. finally got back to the canyon and got the other tire on, seems to drive okay, pulls slightly left
