I forget what the new BAH was. They changed it Janurary this year. But its pretty good. A lot of the folks out here are finding room mates so they can pocket the rest of the BAH. To be honest that might be your best bet. I do know E4 an 5's get about 2grand. Not sure if this helps any.

You would be surprised. That doesn't even include your seperate rats(about $340) and your cost of living allowance(cola varies). Base pay, cola, bah, seperate rations, special pay if you get any, you should be pulling about 5grand or more a month. Get a room mate, eat at the dfac, get a cheap 4 cylinder for work and you can pocket most of that. Baller status can be reached. You can spoil your truck.

Yeah I just looked up the BAH for Honolulu. Adding all the numbers up I should be pulling right around 6 grand after taxes. That's without any COLA though cause I couldn't find anything that would tell me how much it is.

I'm so stoked about this move. I really can't wait to get moved and start exploring the islands and start diving again. It's gonna be really awesome.

Yea cola varies. I get about $700 in cola with wife and kids. Single might be about $3 or $400 a month. If you like the outdoors then this the right spot for you. From extreme hiking to swiming with sharks, skydiving to deep sea diving and zip lining across tree tops.. There is a lot to do. You will have fun. You can even go island hoping on the weekends bro.

Yeah it sounds like a perfect spot for me. Honestly the only cons that I can see about the place are the gun laws cause I like to shoot. But I can do without for a few years.

Not sure I understand. I brought my guns down from Fort Hood to here, no problems. What kinda guns you got?

From what I read you have to actually get permission from like the police chief or whatever in order to even attempt to buy a gun there. Other than that I was told that the gun laws are pretty much the same as California and I don't really have anything that's legal there even.

Yea its the same as Cali. It takes two weeks for your hand gun permit. Rifles are usually the same day. Your military so bring your ID an orders, an weapons to the station. They will look at the weapons, take down serial numbers an then your good to go. Thats why I was asking. Fully auto is allowed if you have a class three lisence. Certain magazines are not allowed. I know people who have found a way around it. If you don't mind,I'll send a pm with my number an we can discuss this a little more in detail.

Its true about the fist for protection. But when that 150lb boar comes out, I prefer my rifle. Plus there is always a way or loop hole.
