Just put on a cap for gear storage (does this count as a mod?)
    Yo John,
Got your PM, thanks. I'll certainly be in touch.
I'm on SVV, on one of the private lanes near the lake.
I ride ( bicycle) through Italy Valley quite alot, so I will keep my eyes open for you.
That is a beautiful area, isn't it.
I'm going to Google your address, so I know where you're located.
Did not notice the other 'Yota, just yours.
Had I known it was a meet and greet, I would have stopped too!
I just purchased a base cab 4X4, and put a cap on it for gear / camping.
I really like the looks of the older Tacoma alloy wheels, and found a set of 4 w/new 265's.
Unfortunately the wheels would not fit w/o spacers, but I got a good deal on the tires. Slapped the tires on the steelies for now. They fill up the wheel wells a little better. The wheels are stored for future use.
This is my 4th 'yota, but will be the first time I experiment w/ suspension. Been a street rodder in my younger days, so this 4WD thing is new to me.
Get out and enjoy the day! Happy easter...

Good morning to ya Chris. I'm assuming you get on Italy Valley from Sliter Hill Rd? Coming from that end, go past the old Valley Store. The next left it Burke Hill, it's kinda seasonal. The next left it Old Prattsburg Rd. Keep going. The next left is my road, Olney. It's right at the top of the rise. I'm the first house on the left. Look for the big Willow.

As far as the street rods go, I've had a few muscle cars. We don't mix well...I have the need for speed and am a little irresponsible when it gets to that.:D I'll tell you those stories when we meet up. Being a poor white trash red neck keeps me from being able to afford too many hobbies at once as it is!

    Looking forward to meeting up!

Thanks! I've been watching your build grow too! NICE:thumbsup:

The snorkel install isn't all that bad, but you definitely want to measure twice...or more!:D This thread http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/pe...llation-2nd-gen-ss135mod-1st-gen-ss170hf.html gave me all the confidence to do it. I actually bought mine from a member here. These are the guys that put together the kit to work with the Tacoma

    http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/safarisnorkel.html

I believe it is actually a kit for the Hilux that has been modified.

Thanks, I think I will go with him in a couple of months....only problem is, that is a mod my wife can SEE and will be able to KNOW I did:rolleyes: it is all good though. Still have to come up with a way to tell her I am buying a high clearance rear bumper.

On another note, I think there is a brotherhood with us ARB bumper guys  I was actually on the fence on getting one, but very glad I did it:woot:

:thumbsup:on the ARB. I haven't hit anything HARD yet, but I have rubbed up on some trees in my woods with no adverse effects. I have also winched from it a few times, even at a sharp angle...and all is well. The only things missing are some D-rings or shackle mounts.:notsure: So far, I haven't needed them.:D

YUP, I'm hurt, just the little loop there:eek:.

I figure in a pinch I could wrap a tree-saver or choke-chain around one of my uprights. Only on a straight pull though. I've been trying to figure a way to use the pockets for the hi-lift as an anchor point. Any thoughts there?:notsure:

I think that loop should work. I wouldn't wrap an upright...if it bends that bumper will be toast:rolleyes: or you could buy the tow hook from someone that had to take it off to put their bumper on

Dude I just read your whole thread!
We have very similar trucks and you have all the things I don't have yet.
Love the arb bumper, and snorkel.

Couple questions, I just installed ULK LR UCA's and dakar full leafs.
What are you using spacers for? I have 4.5 backspacing on my FJ Rims does that change anything? (currently running 265's, want 285's)
Also did you install the shims in the rear? I have not. No vibes yet.

Side note I have 2 labs (8 and 10 yrs. old) and I am sorry you had to go through what you did with you dog. I'm not sure what I would do if that happened to me, My sympathy's.

Yes, I did the shims at the time of install.

I do get a bit of a vibe on take-off on occasion, I'm thinking I need to space down my carrier bearing. It only seems to happen when I take off hard, but not hard enough to break the tires free.

The spacers were needed to keep the tires (285's) from rubbing on the UCA's, they are stock Sport rims.

Thanks for your thoughts. It's been a little over a year since Aspen was killed. I was actually talking to a customer about her today. It still brings tears, just not as oftern. I still miss that little pain in my ass!:(

    Thanks again for your thoughts!:D
