Sub'd to check out for more information on the next Gen.

I would definitely be interested if the 3rd Gen provided a faster processor that eliminated alot of the lag time is complained about in many of the reviews I have read. Also would be looking for SAT support and TV Tuner would be a great add on!

I do agree that a 3rd Generation would be SWEET. However, creating a a "3rd generation" customers would want to see significant change.

Even if we were to eliminate the "bugs" (which we have in these new units arriving) customers wouldn't want to pay for change that is not visible or tangible Were actually working on perhaps integrating more advanced parts such as Parrot Bluetooth (this would be sigggniifcantttly better).

I do agree SAT radio would be nice...this we are actually working on at the moment. As for TV tuner, it does support that feature option but you would need to purcahse the antenna and digital converter box (if your in the US). We don't provide this but we do provide the GPS map, GPS antenna, iPod cable, USB cable, harnesses, wires, and also one year warranty.

Otto:. Any way to make the G3 version's housing match the 2012 Tacoma's piano black finish. Where in the life cycle of the G3 are you? Is your company developing it or are you the distributor only? Are you close to the engineering team. If we can get some positive changes / upgrades with the G3 and keep the price reasonable I will definitely look into this. Also, are these units compatible with the 2012?

    Thanks

I have not heard of any fitment issues in the 12 Tacoma, but I believe the color is different. When released the G3 will have the same silver/metallic color. Not sure if they are going to make them in black, but you do make a good point. Hope this is what you meant by "Tacoma's piano black finish"[IMG]

We are actually manufacturing this product. Our tech team has just arrived from their trip overseas to our factories. So far, we plan to just continue the G2 as customers seem content and satisfied with this unit. I feel that many of you would expect a significant upgrade in the G3 besides just XM/Sat ready. We are thinking of perhaps integrating Parrot bluetooth but that would def increase the price. Keep you posted.

Any idea yet of when the units will be back in stock? I have a few road trips coming up and am very interested in buying one ASAP. Thanks.

The 2012 has a slightly different shape.
There's a couple of threads where guys have tried to use the existing adapter kits in their '12s and it's not a perfect match... there's a bit of a "step" that's pretty noticeable.

I was wondering if the $670 price was still available, I know this was posted at the start of the year, but I'm very interested in this unit. If you already have blue tooth hooked up factory how does it work with this unit? Do I have to re run the wires for it?. Also for the usb out put if I plug my phone thru that (HTC EVO) will I be able to play songs and charge my phone?

I expect the price to be around $700, no more than that. Unit should be in stock May 18th. I will post it on here or you can PM me your name/contact info and I can add you to the wait list.

You lose factory bluetooth. The bluetooth is built in the unit and comes w/ an external microphone.

Anyone have their clock reset every once in a while? Ever since the time change for daylight savings, the clock on the radio would re-set to the previous time. It's not a super big deal but kinda annoying. I've got the G2 version.

Mine does it too. It fixed itself the first time, but has problems off and on now.

Does the GPS function without the antenna installed? Portable units like Garmin and Tomtom work fine without an external antenna.

Is there a microphone on the faceplate, or is the external BT mic the only mic?

External mic you hook up from the back, but can hide it anywhere. And I didn't try the GPS without the antenna, but I don't think it does. You can actually hide the antenna under the dash and it still will work.

You will need to attach the GPS antenna to pick up GPS location. Its about 5 meters long so you can easily run it anywhere you like and it also has a magnetic base.
