Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I love my SR5, I am sure it is capable of doing everything a TRD can, I've wheeled for years and never needed a locker.

Just went through this dilemma when buying my new truck on Thursday. I ended up going with the OffRoad just because i figured I would regret not having it. TRD Rocks!:mudding:

10 dcsb sport 4x4. I like the sport seats and matched painted parts, but the hood skewp is a big anoying wart on my hood. Also sport seats are verry nice but in January-February when you wear a winter jacket and heavy clothes , the sport seats can be a little snug.

You can easily trade hoods with a TRD OffRoad and walk away from the deal with $150 in hand. Scoops might not be functional but they are in high demand for the look.

I imagine the problem was the dealer couldn't find anyone to finance a truck with 218k miles on it. A lot of banks aren't comfortable loaning on vehicles with that kind of mileage. Had you had the $12k to pay the residual in cash, you wouldn't have had an issue buying it outright. Unfortunately, no one was going to loan you the $12k for that vehicle.

It's really not the dealer's fault. The same thing could have happened if you had something catastrophic happen to your credit during the lease. When the lease came up, regardless of the mileage, no one would loan you the money to buy the truck.

I wanted a Base 4X4 but could not find one. It was hard
enough just to find a stick.

The first deaer told me that Tacomas only came with an auto trans.
When I later discovered in the brochure he had given me that
he had lied to me I moved on.

definitely 4x4 off road TRD. see Sticky: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-controls-trac-auto-lsd-trac-rear-locker.html

    1) Normal street driving: H2 TRAC ON and VSC is on.
    2) Slippery conditions, to get moving from a stuck: H2 AUTO LSD ON (VSC is off under 30 mph). Press VSC button once while moving or stopped.
    3) Spinning tires prefered: H2 VSC OFF/ TRAC OFF. Press and hold down VSC button 3+ seconds, while stopped.

    4) Loose dirt, sand, snow: H4 TRAC ON and VSC is on.
    5) Spinning tires prefered, off pavement: H4 VSC OFF/ TRAC OFF. Press and hold down VSC button 3+ seconds, while stopped.

    6) Spinning tires prefered with low gearing torque: L4 (with A-TRAC off)
    7) Steep grades, large rocks, deep mud, severe traction conditions: L4 with A-TRAC ON. Press A-TRAC button once.
    8) Spinning tires in front only: L4 with REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED.
    9) L4 REAR LOCKED and A-TRAC ON. A-TRAC comes on automatically when speed drops to under 3 mph to provide front traction to get you going, again.

ALL Tacomas have 1-3. ALL 4WD Tacomas have 1-6. ONLY 4WD OFF ROAD TRD Tacomas have 1-9.

    Interesting thread.

SR5 4x4 with towing package. All I need. I did test drive and consider TRD off-road, but I am positive I will never need those extras.
